There is tons of single player content you can have fun with in MK9... Challenge Tower especially!

PS3 - Decent community, very laggy for me, not sure why.
X360 - Community is much worse, always had harder times getting a good match where they either quit after one game or cry after losing twice.
PC - Filled with Russians and other foreigners. There is a small community of NA players however.

All games are cheap at are generally worth picking up still. If you are just going to be playing online I would recommend Xbox360 with a fight stick, as the connection is the best on that system.

All your characters are good choices.

You've had a much different experience on xbox than I have. ^^

From my experience PS3 was always more laggy than XBOX and as far as having a hard time finding a good match where the opponent won't rage quit after one game and cry after losing twice, I don't know what to tell ya. Might have had bad luck, but I can easily find good matches with people who are down to run hour(s) long sets no problem.

MK9 is the best fighter in the history of games, and this is coming from someone who has been a fighting game specialist for the past 20 years. I say it's the best off entertainment value, obviously my opinion but it's high quality. Get it for PS3, it's better on the 'Station.

Should I buy Kenshi? He's the only DLC character that interests me, is it worth 5 bucks?

You should buy them all. Just so you have all of the characters, 20 dollars isn't that much for the costume pack that isn't free and the other 4 DLC's. Kenshi is a top tier character, so if you want someone who is objectively better than most of the cast (and you like his character design/story) purchase him.

Just to let you guys know I wasn't tier whoring him ;) But seriously I wasn't, I'm going to learn Noob and Kenshi since I've never played zoning characters. Tekken doesn't have any so to speak.

IMHO MK9 is a terrible game, especially if you're 2 1/2 years late. Online community is crap for the most part and the game's balance is an absolute trainwreck. I honestly don't see why so many TYMers think MK9 is a better game than IGAU or SSF4AE. Maybe I can't stand MK9 because my four favorite characters (Jade, Sindel, Noob and Ermac) are utter garbage..but I mostly dislike the game because nostalgia aside the animations are so stiff and block button is just retarded stupid for a 2d/2.5d fighter.

Play Injustice. Much larger online community, the netcode is 100x better and the gameplay is far superior.

That's because you're using subjective reasoning; objectively, MK9 is superior to the other titles you listed.
