Also, I have been away the past week and a half so I haven't even seen a MMh but anyone know how that MU will turn out? I am kind of irritated that all the DLC characters seem to be good antizoners. Especially those with teleports like MMH, scorpion, and zatanna to be...

Hopefully ZOD bops all

So anyone want to go into Raven and Ares those seem pretty bad, which is odd because I don't think I've ever feared Ares with another character.

I saw one of the match ups listed in another thread for Cyborg versus Batman as 5-5.

I seem to be struggling with checking Batman's jumps and trait. I do alright, but I cannot seem to make him respect me when he does get in like I usually can with other characters, but I guess maybe it's just my inexperience in the match up with Cyborg?

Also for the Doomsday match up, I'm not sure if Back 1,2,3 is great for stuffing wake ups, but I was using it to stuff Doomsday's wake up venom into full combo so I'll probably test to see if this can work for other wake ups.

how the fuck do you fight green lantern? everything he has is faster and outranges cyborg? i only played cyborg 5 seconds but this is frustrating as fuck.

Only when his trait is on.
At 3/4ths plus screen, he needs trait to reach you.
As soon as you land a move, zoning momentum is in your favor.

I was just wondering if anyone had much experience with a few match ups I've been having trouble with lately.

Firstly Aquaman is a nightmare; close/mid range all I can do is block his mixups and maybe throw out a few crouching 1's. Long range I can somewhat zone but can get stuffed by "from the deep" or his trident spear move if I go too crazy and getting target acquired out without trading is a bitch, not to mention his water shield.

Secondly Batman gives me troubles mostly because of his trait being able to keep my zoning in check well enough that I can't rely totally on it, forcing me to meet him close/mid range, where Batman has the clear move priority advantage. Batman also seems to cross him up rather easily because Cyborgs uppercut special doesn't seem that reliable for anti air unless you anticipate them; it also seems to never auto correct when crossed up as a wakeup attack. His up sonic disruptor doesn't seem useful in this regard either as everytime I've tried to use it as an anti-air for his crossup, it loses to j2. Add in the fact that his d2 isn't that great it seems like Cyborg doesn't have any reliable anti-airs, especially in this mathcup (unless I'm timing them/doing something wrong, in which case please let me know). If I have to get in close with Cyborg I use stuff like f22 or 112 followed by b123 to go for a frame trap, but Batman's parry can help him out of this, granted I can get the first string to connect in the first place.

Lastly Deathstroke seems to be a problem, mostly because he can go toe to toe in the zoning war, and also has better close range options. His crossups aren't as bad as Batman's but again Cyborgs wake-up game seems to get shut down by them. Would being able to do IANB help with this match at all? Since DS's guns are slow to recover on block I imagine I could block one set of guns and then start a barrage of IANB before he could recover to trade projectiles? I currently can't consistently IANB, and I especially can't do them online, so I'm wondering if in this case (and any others one may want to mention) they may change matchup?

Thanks in advance to anyone with advice.

ianb is almost useless against deathstroke. he'll just trade with you with the stand guns and youl be knocked down and he wont. you have to rely on ground blast trades almost 100% of the time (trade is in your favor, doesnt matter though) 6-4 deathstroke, zoning reaches full screen too quickly. its very difficult matchup

batman is 5-5, not hard. he cant do anything about ianb. he'll try to get you with the grapple, but your ianb will trade well for you. if he finally gets in on you with the bats just wait and pushblock him, zipline away. if hes jumping on you just block/pushblock

you have to be completely and utterly on point against aquaman. gotta ianb in bursts (you cant do it repetetively much or youl just get full screen ftd comboed) to bait out the ftd. when you know hes going to ftd you have to jump high and do ex nova blaster. good luck when youre upclose too lol. matchup is extremely bad.

-Dat Knowledge-

Ah okay, I wasn't sure about DS since I hadn't tested it/looked at the frame data yet (I don't have as much time as I used to in order to play and practice these things, which is the main reason for the post.)

Looks like I need to practice the hell outta IANB, so far I haven't needed a stick to play this game, but I think I'm going to have to try one and see if it'll help. I had a feeling I'd have to play as lame a keepaway game as possible on Bat's, which my brother's not going to enjoy one bit; but he can always counterpick Aquaman if he gets too annoyed.

Thanks, I'll definitely keep all of this in mind.

I know the patch isn't out yet, but considering the MB fast advancing specials of some characters getting two hits of armor for Catwoman and Doomsday among others for example...should we be looking at those as potential bad match ups now?

They were most likely 5-5 before, but considering they can now absorb two hits with their armor to get in it makes zoning that much more tricky and limited for Cyborg.

Just figured we could get some early speculation going.

For what reasons do you think the Doomsday MU is a 5-5 in the game's current state?
That one seems crazy, even now.

I actually am not sure what the number is currently. I was just going off the chart(s) I read in one of the match up threads that had it as 5-5. At one point I thought it was 4-6 Doomsday's advantage and it makes sense, but I haven't played it since I picked him back up.

I only have a lot of DD experience with Hawkgirl.

Anyone know anything about the Cyborg-Black Adam match up?
I feel like Cyborg probably wins or goes even, but it's causing me some problems right now.

The lightning cloud is a pain. I'm not sure if my iaNB just aren't good enough or if I need to stay closer when I'm trying to zone. I also have trouble keeping him out of the air. I try to make reads and use different heights for my air fireballs to hit him out of jumps, but I have trouble finding the right pattern to keep him out of the air and not divekicking
Meter seems like a bit of a problem too. You need it pretty much anytime you attempt a ground fireball to keep him from divekicking you if he jumps it.
Oh, and what's the best punish for a blocked dive kick?

Also, is the Shazam match up considered heavily in Cyborgs favor? I was running that last night and it didn't seem like Shazam could do anything

It is probably pretty even. But it will always be frustrating for cyborg. BA hits like a truck and has good mobility/interactable control. Black magic and lightning shouldn't be much of a problem. They should wiff 90% of the time and the other 10% should at least net you a favorable trade. Be careful about spamming at the wrong times. If he hits you with one black magic or lightning then he is in on you for free and all that chip/fireball damage you have been accumulating will be for naught. Never block low, use pushblock frequently. IF you see him dash in for upclose pressure grapple away.

Shazam Cyborg is actually more even. Although Cyborg still wins 6-4. Shazam has a lot of option to deal with the zoning if he is on point with his teleports. Groundfireball and IaFB mix up is key.
You just need to find a Shazam player who knows how to use his character well and is familiar with the MU. I have trained Crathen a bit so I would recommend him if you get some time

I really like Cyborg and would like to play him more, but he has so many problem match ups. I don't play online much and my offline scene has a ton of MMH's, Batgirls, and Scorpions and I don't think I need to tell you guys how frustrating it is playing those match ups as Cyborg. If I wanted to play losing match ups I'd just stick with Ares.

I'm starting to like the Cyborg-Scorpion match up though. Might even be a 5-5, imo.
Scorpion can't punish an iaNB with teleport on reaction and Cyborg can punish both regular and MB teleport on block(regular teleport gets you a b3 and mb you can punish with 12b2~powerfist or 113~whatever). You can't just machine gun iaNB because then he'll get you, but you can do it enough that you're not left with no useful zoning game. Also, if he MB teleports as you do iaNB the teleport sort of glitches under you and he doesn't get his combo.

Spear and Hellfire aren't really threats because anything you're doing will let you block spear in time and you'll often be in the air to avoid Hellfire.

Powerfist is a good aa is this match up, it can stop him from doing a bunch of his j3 nonsense and using those divekick interactables.

You can activate trait and then dash forward and his teleport will usually whiff or you can block it.

I'd love tips on MMH, Batgirl, or Catwoman match ups. MMH in particular is awful. I thought the Ares-MMH was about as bad as a match up can get, but Cyborg might have it worse. At least Ares has strong options is the post OH teleport game and a better chance of landing some high damage corner combos.

MMH-Cyborg is the definitive worst MU in the game haha. It is close to impossible against a good MMH. Essentially you have to play very random with forward dashes and iafb. You are always at risk and the only damage you are doing is chip, the dashing helps to bait a teleport. Sometimes charging a fireball, then canceling with a forward dash is good at baiting an OH tele (same with scorpion). Post-Blocked OH teleport the best option is to ianb-MB if he MB-B3 you will hit him out, if he dashes forward you hit him out, dashes back hit him out.If he ducks you get 2% chip! If he has trait though he will hit you out and you have 0 options. If he gets the life lead prepeared to get zoned out. I talk about it more indeoth in my MU# thread.

Batgirl is all about being on point with execution. (Ex.,Iafb, pause, iafb, pause, pause, iafb, iafb, pause, ground NB). You are waiting to bait and punish teleport, which you can with quick recovery. You can duck punish her baterang, ocaasionally hit her out of bola start up or jump mb-iafb if you think she will do another bola. Take your time and be patient, as well as unpredictable. The risk reward is always in her favor since she punishes you for a mistake much harder than you will.

Catwoman is very annoying as well. You have to respect her catdash when she has meter. Cat evade is a bitch, and her b3 from mid-close range is very viable tool since it will cause a majority of your fireballs to wiff. Ill put some more notes up later
