Match-up Discussion Cyborg Matchup Discussion

As the game stands, Cyborg vs Grundy is a 10-0 matchup if the Cyborg can do IAFBs at all, doesn't even need to be blockstun-infinite tight. The hitbox for swamp hands is incredibly low and it will always whiff on a cyborg firing IAFBs. He moves too slow to chase down the grapple even if he does manage to get through. I haven't lost to a single Grundy online and I have over half of them rage quit on me because they literally can't do anything. I've even started warning them at the character select screen to pick someone else or it'll be very unfun.
 
yo fuck superman, seriously FUCK superman. this matchup is basically unwinnable in every single aspect

and please noone say do iafbs on him. the fucking straight ground eye beam just DESTROYS everything you try to do

Superman is one of those tough match-ups for Cy.

I'd say his worst Match-ups are Aquaman, Superman, and Sinestro.
 
IAFB destroys superman, you just can't throw them out randomly. Just duck his straight eye laser or block the sweep laser and respond with an IAFB, he can't do anything about it. If he jumps and does the sweep beam, it'll whiff from full screen if you're even an inch off the ground.

Guys, stop suggesting IAFB, that shit is getting patched out for sure, or at least nerfed to the point of it not being spammable.
 
I am not sure how you guys are having trouble with some of these characters mentioned above.

Joker is straight up cake if you know how to block.
Green Arrow gives cyborg a slightly harder time, but easily winnable still.

I played against someone who beat Alex Valle 8-0, and I went 2-2 with the dude. So I mean... cyborg is pretty much high tier and you guys are complaining about the wrong characters.

If anything, Batman and Deathstroke give us the hardest time.

The average deathstroke will get destroyed, where as the Aris deathstroke competes with cyborgs IAFB easily.
But even average Batmans have guess reads on blocks. Miss one block, take 35% dmg.

But seriously, Joker is one of our easier matchups. Just use your zipline OFTEN.

It'll either have a height restriction added or blockstun frames lowered, but it won't get entirely removed. It's still a very good option if either or both of those things are true. The only thing that's broken about it is hitting crouching characters and of course the blockstun infinite, you can take those out without getting rid of IAFB entirely.

If anything I hope they only do this to cyborg.

If I could add or change anything about Cyborg it would be:

One of these, probably not all.

1. Make his Sonic disrupter an overhead.

2. Change the fireball command from back, forward to down, forward. For me it feel like the the back, forward command is iffy in certain amounts of lag.

3. Make it so that you can choose the direction and timing on the second shot of his EX fireball, doing nothing will make it go diagonal like normal, pressing forward will make it go straight . You can charge on the second shot like you can on the first one.

4. Make techno tackle and powerfist holdable, to go with the rest of his moves,

What would you guys change?

What about a MB target lock?

I don't know which would be a better function:

1. MB it after launch give the projectiles a huge speed boosts and they fly directly to their target.
2. MB it after launch and the projectiles explode where ever they are in the air.

I like the second one better because it sounds like there are more options.

What are you guys using to punish stuff around range 2 like a GL lift or flash's bf2? f2xx seems decent but I would love to hear some options.

Anyone notice that cat woman can completely nullify his IANB with her evade...she also build full claws and meter real quick

That being said I do not have to much trouble beating her with the borgs other tools
 
You gotta do close target aquired full screen against cat woman to make him think about doing the full screen move
Once you get the target acquired you can iafb. You have to be thinking about that move at all times once he's got a meter

What's everyone's opinion on Cyborg versus Doomsday, he seems to make it hard for Cyborg to zone and beats him up close because just from my observations Cyborg's upclose game is okay, but not particularly strong.

Doomsday trait obviously allows him to get in pretty good and he can counterzone Cyborg with his supernova telesport slam move.


My Cyborg isn't so great, but I'm just curious how everyone else feels about the MU and any ideas. I've been playing it more frequently trying to figure out how to approach him, maybe a more patient footsie based style.

DeathStroke is completely dependent on your execution level of IANB.
If you have them downlow 100% then you can outzone him.
If not then he will out-zone you all day easy, and you have to make moves to get in. Grapple hook will not work becasue bullets hit you out. Become much tougher
