What about Doomsday? Shouldn't Aquaman mop him up because "Doomsday can't get up" (just frame tridents and all)?

I dont have an issue with that character now. I have totally dissected him finally.

Again.. I didnt focus on anything besides Black Adam because he is my master.

At CEO.. Lost to Black Adam in a close set.

At EVO, Rico put me in losers 2-1.. I lose to PL's DD.. BUT.. even if i had taken DD into the lab and won, I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PLAY RICO AGAIN and be sent home dispute having the DD match down.

At Shocks tournament I beat a lot of good players and made it to winners finals where I finally beat Rico 3-2. BUT.. he comes back to GF and beats me 2 sets and I again lose....

I already went over the TFC scenario on how even if I won my pool, I still would have lost because I would have had to play the 2 best BA players in the tourney right after.

That character has frustrated me beyond belief.

Wonderchef was right on this one. Black Adam absolutely owns Aquaman.

That being said.. MANY Aquaman players have said "Tom plays the MU wrong" yet they get totally obliterated anytime they play a Black Adam on Rico's level. To this day, I am the only Aquaman player that even makes it competitive at that level vs Black Adam, and the only one to ever beat that character at the highest level.

That was at UFGT (FIVE months ago) when I did not know any of those MU's. Have you ever seen me play the top ares player today? DS and Ares are not an issue for me. Of course, you wont dare look for any current footage of me vs the best Ares lol..

Dont get me wrong i like you (thou we never actually meet) - your game, your point of view on many things about IGAU or even earlier on MK. Yes i do agree that you become sometimes emo way to much but then again i recognize you as one with most knowledge about IGAU in the world.

Aquaman is the best character in the game at this current moment. He has 0 losing matchups and maybe five or six 5-5 matchups.

But after this patch comes out alot of characters are getting nerfed hard, and Aquaman isn't one of them. So Aquaman is going to continue to be the best character in the game, continue to have 0 losing matchups, and only have maybe three or four 5-5 matchups after the patch. I guess Aquaman players just aren't delivering if they can't win with a character like that, especially post patch. That's almost like playing MK9 and none of the Kabals placing top 8. LOL. Don't make me pick up this character

I never said you are/were bad. I dont judge players skills, especially if i feel they're way better then me.

I have no doubts in my mind about you being top aquaman player. I'm looking forward to see how you perform after the patch in a major (like NEC) i hope you gonna make atleast top 8.

Sir, I have less than 20 posts in the last 4 months because I rarely even read this forum. Why? because I do not care. I am not defending myself, I could care less how much of a shit player ppl say i am. I am defending the fact that Aquaman isn't over rated, he just gets beat by Black Adam. Thats his problem.

and for the record... aqua is NOT over rated. he has all the tools to compete at a high level. if i have to spell if out for people then you should probably go play tetris bc u have no grip on how level play

aqua does have some even match ups but no bad matches at this point. remember tier/chart monstors... you have to consider the player. so when you beat a scrub aqua man that doesn't me anything. beat flawedzilla or tom et cetera then u might have an educated and insightful opinion.

match ups/tiers are only excuses for bad players. i lost to rico's medicore aqua in top 8 at tfc... but look... wound turned around and bodied him in the same matchup. fact is... i didn't know it while wound plays one of the best in the country every week. so did i lose bc of aquaman or lack of matchup knowledge?

I removed my YT, refuse to stream, will not and no longer do any strat vids, avoid every podcast, etc.. the FEW posts I make here are the only involvement I have. Thats probably more involvement then I should have.

when you make a name for yourself and win events... there will always be a target on your back. people hear you talk and see how passionate you are about playing and they see it as an easy way to try and get a reaction out of you.

just like nrs and patches... if nrs never acknowledged the community as having influence in their patches TYM would not have 10000000 posts requesting patches. and you... see that you DO (at times) acknowledge the scrubs and chatter... it only makes people want to do it more. its the age of the internet where any asshole with a keyboard can get their opinion read.

Aquaman is top 5, it's just that Black Adam kept preventing him from shining at the recent majors.

Brady lost to Rico at Evo.
Dizzy lost to (I think) Rico at Evo.
Tom lost to PLs Black Adam and FK's Black Adam in tourney.
Riyo lost to Rico Suave at Summer Jam.
Flawedzilla lost to Rico at EVO and TFC (Best Aquaman out there in terms of pure skill in my opinion)
I can name much much more if I look more at bracketology.

The point of this is that Aquaman players seem to have the bad luck of falling to Black Adams in tourney which kept them short of shining this monstrosity of the character in the big spotlight.

Its like...imagine if all the world's best Kenshis kept on having to fight REO in tourney on their way to top 8. Is Kenshi then overrated?

This is exactly the same reason killer frost hasn't won a major. Literally every single time pr rog or khaotic reach top 8 they run into a black Adam.

You do realize your character is the next black adam right and is just as bad?

Black adam does probably 7-3 aqua, it sucks, mu looks horrible but you dont have that worry post patch

Superman has pretty much skewed all tourney placings (hopefully the new patch will change this) anyway.

Aquaman is a rock-solid character that's almost perfectly rounded out. He has very few flaws in his design but no obvious excessively overpowered aspects (especially after the trait nerfs). He does however require an exceptional brain and balls of steel to use well. Part of the reason he was considered hax tier at first is because he was so overwhelming with the mix-up game, range pokes, armour, etc. Now the game is many many months in people have adapted to the character; 50/50s are common place, people know what they can and can't poke with, FTD is respected and/or ignored appropriately, etc. Unlike certain other characters, training and learning the MU stopped the majority of people from being free to Aquaman players. Thankfully the character is so well designed that he still plays well, especially in the hands of a great player.

Once Superman (and to a lesser extent BA) stop busting the brackets I hope to see Aquaman make a bit of a come-back - some of my favourite IGAU matches were Brady's Aquaman vs REO's Batman early in the game's life.

So Rico doesn't get any credit for being a great player? I kind of disagree with that.

Rico beat Tom not just due to the matchup, but because of the fact that Tom continued to throw out From the Deep over and over without regard to the fact that it's full-divekick-punishable. Also If I recall, Dizzy had a bout with interactibles at CEO that have since been toned down, KDZ wins against AM consistently, and AM players have lost to KFs, GLs, an Ares, Batman, and other characters.

I just don't see where people get off saying that Black Adam is the SOLE reason that every AM other than Riyo has lost the ability to make Top 8.

After the patch I expect the rest of the Aquaman players to keep getting blown up and find excuses for it, while Riyo continues to stay quiet and play consistently well.

I think part of the ticket to Riyo making Top 8 at SJ was the fact that he grinds it out at locals every week. He plays the best player in the game in tournament on a regular basis instead of running away from him. That has to count for something.

Likewise for Rico; he put in serious work -- we could just as easily start a "what happened to the other Black Adams" thread.
