NLBC Spooky Stream Drama

he's a hot head... he's done stuff like this before .... trying to assert some kind of dominance/control over the tournament players.... its a shame because he does run a good stream as long as he doesn't get his ego involved
So this whole post (and argument) is because you have something against Spooky personally? That taints the entire discussion.

It was obviously getting on Spooky's nerves though, he told him to shutup a couple times about it earlier. And before his outburst he was on a mini-tangent about the severity of it.
Still, you can't deny he was even worse off after it happened and yet he didn't pull from Chris G's second string team. Art didn't let up either, so even with the agro if what you assume is true he would've seen Chris G not playing MorriDoom against Flux and repeated it.

The only people that are against Spooky/TOs on this issue, are the ones that want their musty little arcade scene back where they can act a fool all they want as long as they're good at the game.

This shit happened once in the LoL scene too, Curse and Dig tried to pot split at MLG and fucked around ARAM style in the finals. Both of them DQd, and had their money taken away. We got two ways to go on this. We either handle this issue with REAL penalties against the players and start handling the scene with some professionalism in order to keep growing. OR we just keep fucking around and disrespecting people (playing whoever the fuck in grand finals is disrespecting your audience, no other way to state it) and acting however we want, because that's how it was back in the day.

Honestly I feel like it's gonna take players getting suspended from majors before anything changes. Those players will probably just leave the scene altogether at that point. Sucks, but this is probably what's needed, some people just need to go if fighting games are gonna take off. Spooky was right to not deal with that mess, but yanking the cord on a weekly stream won't change shit. Someone is going to have to get suspended for their shit behavior before anything really starts to change.

Still, he didn't kick them out of the tourney. He simply said if you are playing, it won't be on this stream. I trust his experience, and he has worked under pressure before. Art talking about collusion went on all night, yet he only acted one time, even with Chris G picking second string in UMVC3. That tells me enough.

He can't kick them out of the tournament. It's next level's tournament, he just streams it.

Well, acting on him picking his old main team would be beyond overboard. Especially when that was the team he wanted to pick against JWong at EVO for a classic runback with him. Which while not exactly "doing the best he could", would have put on a hell of a show for the viewers. And people HATE ChrisG for his main team in Marvel. I'd start trying out new crazy stuff too if I was getting boo'd at every tournament I went to over the team I played.

I will be honest in saying I didn't catch the whole stream tonight because I was out for most of the night. But I could see constant matches like that getting on Spooky's nerves.

On the flip side of that, there's a first time for everything right?
I mean, what good is practicing a new character if you aren't going to even break them out at a local to test how good you've gotten.

Honestly, I'd play my safe bet character until I got to a point where I knew I'd get payed, then start breaking out the new stuff to put it to a REAL test.
There's plenty of time to pick your real character. If you were really practicing a alternate as a counterpick, pretty sure most of the top players (in the local area) would know about said counterpick before top 3 time.

The collusion thing isn't really new. Remember when Justin Wong got the yellow card for throwing the Power Up tournament match against Noel Brown? It's honestly not rocket science to tell when someone is not actually trying. It also undermines the integrity of the games we play when you have people throwing matches. That can be really damaging to the community's image as a whole and it really needs to stop if we want to ever be taken seriously.

Yeah, he was worse after that, there's no way I'm denying that. But he started drinking and quit commentating matches altogether, saying only who won a match. And then he talked to Art who suddenly got mad serious about colluding despite joking about it the entire damn time.

I didn't think sanford was crazy enough to pick balrog. i have never seen him pick rog, ever, throught all of sf4 lifespan in tournament period.
ive been saying for a while on my twitter collusion kills the cpm.

well its clear that you were the one that got the gears turning in spookys head.... if you had just said "Sanford is picking Balrog, i've never seen him do this.... etc. etc."... the outcome would have been completely different ... instead you spazz out with the AHHHH THESE GUYS ARE LAUGHING THIS IS COLLUSION AHHHH.... you set spooky off

Watch the video on the first page, they were even and weren't necessarily throwing anything. The JWong match was incredibly blatant.

There are no gears spazzing in Spookys head. Every tournament that is covered by SRK and eventhubs has agreed to a no collusion rule.
and if they fail to comply, they will be removed from coverage from those sites.
spooky would have acted that way regardless. how can he let that rock the week after the anti-collusion rule has been put in place? it was going to happen eventually. with the anti collusion rule in place if spooky does nothing, it affects coverage of NLBC.

lets be honest here.... SRK/event hubs is going to drop spooky for these guys picking different characters at a weekly? if its really gotten to that point the entire scene is RETARDED

I think its because Flux's team is made to counteract MorriDoom (I heard so at least) so him picking another team isn't too bad.
Still, Flux was taking it seriously and won out regardless, and Chris G played it for real. It might just be the SF side of things, but if they faked it they did a much better job than Sanford's rog.

And yeah, who wouldn't get annoyed? He doesn't have to stream but he still carries everything out there to put on a show for the viewers. Its understandable that people wasting his time would get aggravating after a while.

Well he sure as hell took them out of their chairs.
Broke them up like a Kit-Kat.
Spooky saw them going on Vacation, so he did everyone a favor and sent them packing for it.

I actually saw it live on stream. It seemed pretty apparent to me that they weren't trying. I guess we have different opinions on the matter.

Yeah Art turning into srs bsns Art was a little funny and a little weird, but he did make a valid point. He was probably more somber about it because he saw how it affected Spooky (when my friends get that agro I treat the problem seriously), and decided to make it known that it actually is a serious issue and not just one person's view on it.

Lets get it clear, it was me drinking. I don't commentate marvel anyway.
Just b/c I joke about it, doesnt really mean I'm not serious about it. I've wanted top players to stop colluding. I've said this for a while. Now that I'm a streamer, I understand how it kills the scene even more.

Technically speaking, Flux's team is a counterpick for anything... First touch usually means TOD on someone's entire team if he's playing on point (seen him get a lot of those 7 Golden Letters at NLBC with ZeroMayCry). He might have just thought he'd get that team back in gear since he was always good with it anyway, and the crowd and stream seem to absolutely love it when he breaks out the Throwback team. Hard for me to personally say that Sanford was throwing it with Rog. Only because, maybe he just thought he had a better Rog than he did? I dunno, I've seen counterpicks like that go horribly wrong before.

And yeah, I haven't seen Spooky's set-up before, but I've helped Jaxel with his before and I don't think I ever wanna help move around a stream set-up again....

Yeah, but a lot of Zero teams are like that and Chris G still takes out more than his fair share. Just something about Flux's team, I don't know what it is, but it sits as a literal breaker for Chris's team. As far as Sanford goes, if he had a decent Rog I'd be like "eh, ok." He didn't.

Spooky's set up I saw once, and its monsterous.

uhh i think it kills the scene even more when streamers & sponsors are dictating what players can and can't do... be honest here, these guys were playing that game out.... they were having fun.... them playing different characters at this weekly was more interesting than what normally would have happened... spooky raging into 'who fucking cares' hurts the scene more than anything that chris g/sanford did tonight

Yeah, clearly theres going to be a rift between the people that feel that way and the people that have the opposite opinion. I hope everyone realizes that it's a ecosystem and everyone has to do their thing and we get back to playing some honest matches.
