Chris G locked in and chose his special, its not a "he might've choose Ryu" because he would've waited until the opponent picked before locking in. Instead he hastily did so without waiting, even at a basic level that's not something you do in the grand finals. You don't go off of what you 'think" you go with what you know. Chris G has won several Majors, he didn't do it by giving away all that advantage to the opponent.
Chris most likely thought Yang beat anyone Sanford played - Sagat and C. Viper. He also played Yang in money matches at EVO, and won with him, Chris plays Yang.
Sanford whipped around and chose Balrog to counterpick Yang. Who cares if they were laughing?
They played the match seriously, regardless of the characters picked. Again, it's not like they were dropping combos or running back and forth doing nothing. Spooky was already pissed off at something as you can tell from the before it started when he said "It happens every fucking week. Fucking every week."
He then immaturely and unprofessionally unplugged the monitor. Didn't let them finish a round, didn't let them explain themselves. Just walked up and plug-pulled. Then he raged and wouldn't listen to their explanation, and just walked back and sulked in his salt bath behind the camera.

so according to you, whoever buys the system at the tournament event... has the right at any time to walk up to a station of people playing and yank the cord out?

do you really believe that, because you just said it
Any player can play any character, it just won't be on a streamed console. End of story.

meanwhile Arturo was throwing gas on the fire the entire stream with the 'AHHHHHH COLLUSION AHHHH" BS... laughing and joking about it... then all the sudden he's serious about it? come on

And as collateral damage, PL thinks it's time for a "players union", and CD jr isn't going to anymore Level|Up weeklies.

wow, i can't believe how demented this is.... ok lets use your thinking... so who exactly decides then? basically you're suggesting that a tournament exists and The Powers that Be have prearranged what characters XYZ-player will use... and if they don't use said character, they are violating tournament rules?
No, but tournaments traditionally have a rule against sandbagging or colluding on purpose. If you do so, you are violating tourney rules.
Spooky didn't act for no reason, since he let Chris G rock his second string in UMVC3 finals. Believe it or not, he probably has enough sense to see what was going on and the fact that theres been no issues outside of a select few means the call was obviously somewhat right.

So yes, if the tourney says you can't do something and you sign up for said tourney, you can't do this. The TO is that Power to Be, and they say play seriously or don't play, for lack of a better word.

well yeah, thats what i was saying before... this happened in professional supports in the 20th century... players treated horribly while corporate sponsors/owners got rich.... then they union-ed up and things changed

this would be like if FOX was showing a baseball game, and one of the team managers changed the pitcher and CBS didn't like it so they stopped broadcasting the game

It was obviously about the principle, not the pot.
This.

Pot splitting exists in every competitive game. No tournament veteran should be surprised by this at all. If you split and fuck around on stream, it's disrespectful to the stream, streamer, TO, and the other players. They didn't get DQ'd without prizes, or banned, just told to fuck off with that and stop wasting time. The fact that they're trying to justify this shit is just childish.

yeah... and broken angel has already shot your theory about them 'not playing serious' to shit

If they pretend to play legit is there a difference?
It is what it is. Definetly shoudnt have split money on screen though.
I agree thats a little inappropriate.

The first part is true, which is why no one is worried about Chris G. Everyone knows he picks wonky characters. I've brought up the point just to more or less say "He has better characters, and rush picking Yang who has several hard counters instead of Sakura who lacks a lot" isn't his typical MO. Moreso that his Sakura already bodied out a C. Viper.

Sanford has never chosen Balrog and showed a pretty big gap of skill, and theres more than just him that counterpicks Yang. Some of which, he has actually shown to be skilled with.

It was pretty obvious Sanford didn't know what he was doing, Chris G always does good but eh...

He was even more pissed later on but didn't pull the plug on Chris G in UMVC3, soooo...

Your right, they never finished a round. He told them to get off stream and sent them away, told them to go do their business elsewhere. If he Noel Browned one of them, I'd be more towards the "irrational" side but honestly he did the right thing by stopping it early and telling them it wasn't okay. Next time they make it, if they do, they won't be picking half-assed. No one will. It wasn't immature, it wasn't unprofessional, it was an act of initiative to a problem that had made itself obvious. He refused to listen to their explanation because he has streamed them long enough to know when they aren't being completely honest, and then walked back and insisted on continuing the stream instead of packing up and leaving.

They didn't split anything on screen. On screen all you could hear was Art screaming and giggling like a girl about colluding.
You could actually see them doing it in the background when they flipped to player cam later on.

Anyways, its not the issue of the pot. As has been said multiple times, if they split it but put on a half serious show then no one would've batted an eye. However, when both players ass around and it becomes so obvious that Spooky of all people has to pull the plug and kick you off stream, its an issue.

It ruins the legitmacy of an event. It's happened in smash brothers and people have been blacklisted from events for it. Shit I remember back when Brawl was popular the most uninteresting matches to watch were the finals matches. Only because you would see two douchebags who are obviously better than everyone else they beat giggling and playing like jigglypuff mirror matches.

Imagine you were really into baseball and you saw your favorite team in some qualifying series. The game winning pitch is thrown underhand and it's a home run. Because of an agreement made behind the scenes both players ended up making good money anyway. Would it not make you pissed off?

The players that collude ruin the excitement for events. If excitement is ruined because oh well so and so will make it to finals and then fuck around the fans stop watching. If fans stop watching spooky doesn't get paid. <- hard to figure out.

Here is the big kicker for everyone who is trying to justify it or say Spooky is irrational, but its been said before. I'll repeat it.

They didn't get disqualified. They didn't get kicked out. They got booted off Spooky's stream and that's literally it. Spooky owns the stream, he gets to decide whats shown on it. He stopped it early, kicked them off, and moved on. They left and played their matches somewhere else, split the pot, and no one cared.

Ya i mean at the end of the day spooky runs his shit.
If you dont like it dont play. Both sides did some questionable things though no doubt
