You literally have no right whatsoever to demand that Chris G use a specific character in grand finals. You seem to think that this local with very little cash on the line is forced to go by unwritten guidelines stating that a person shouldn't use a character they aren't maining at the time. Maybe Chris G clicked on Yang because he knew It countered all of Sanford's known characters. If I went to play against Tom Brady I would instantly choose the character that I think does best against Tom Brady without waiting for him to pick so why would Chris G not do the same if he didnt expect his opponent to pick a different character? I honestly would rather have seen them play with different characters as it makes the game more interesting and unexpected. Are you trying to take away my right to watch Chris G use his alternate in grand finals at a local?
Because players who win at the high level have all of their character countered by one character? Also the guidelines aren't unwritten, they are tournament rules. If they want to play different characters, they can do so on their own time. Its not their money going into organizing this, so if a TO says you can't play fish, then you can't play fish. If a streamer refuses to show people playing fish on his stream because his sponsors say not to, he has the right to pull the plug and tell them to take it elsewhere. They didn't get through a single round, so its not like they stopped the final game of a best of 5. They told them to pack it up and go somewhere else, and they did. No TO came to criticize Spooky, no players rose up in rebellion.
This isn't them taking away freedoms, this is them enforcing a set of rules given to them and rules given to the players. Theres a rule against collusion, and if it wasn't obvious they wouldn't have pulled it. Chris G went Ryu, Wesker, and other in the UMVC3 finals, and no one pulled the plug. So obviously, its not an issue about using second-string. If that's true, it would have to be something else.
