Question If Kabal were banned

And so can Kabal...

Kabal can beaten, but that's not the problem. Any character in any fighting game can be beaten.

The problem is that Kabal has no disadvantageous match-ups, and Kabal has no even match-up. That means that Kabal wins every single match-up in the game. That means if you choose Kabal, you will always be at an advantage ALL THE TIME against any opponent you ever play. If you get two players of equal skill level, and one player chooses Kabal, that 2nd player can choose any character in the entire game he wants but no matter what choice he makes, he will alway be at a disadvantage.

That's the problem

Why are we comparing COD to MK?

That was just example. But now your starting to understand the point. The best you can do against Kabal is 4-6. That is the best lol

When you are fighting against Kabal, your BEST option in the entire game is to put yourself at a 4-6 disadvantage.... you don't have the option to put yourself at advantage, you don't have the option to put yourself even at a 5-5. Your only option is to put yourself at a disadvantage. How is that fair?
As professional gamers you have o realize that there isn't much of a ''fun'' aspect (Unless you don't want to win).

The only morality in a cruel world is chance.
I disagree because those two characters have a lot of a match ups where its 5-5 and they can lose.
Exactly. For example Sonya can lose to a low tier trash character like Noob Saibot. Just at Blake's match against Madzin.

I think banning Kabal at tournaments is a great idea to keep MK going.

I understand the playing to win aspect I have played top tier characters to do well in tournaments before.

But what you're not understanding is that if everyone did what they had to do to win and everyone played by using their best possible chances in tournament to win, than every single tournament would just be all Kabals vs Kabals. There would be no reason to pick any other character. Kabal can't be counterpicked, so who are you going to use to be beat Kabal? Why use any other character, when other characters have bad matchups or even matchups? Why use other characters that can be counter picked? Kabal would be the only tournament character if everyone was playing to win, and that would be straight retarded. If Kabal was banned, everyone could be playing to win and you would still see a variety of characters.

Oh wow, great perspective granting me a better understanding of how that works.

Thanks!

You people just need to start thinking of this game like Call of Duty. The Pros all use the same weapons perks ect, but those weapons aren't banned. Those are the ''Unfair weapons'' yet everyone uses them. So why ban something that's so high tier? I mean seriously if some one uses an ACR ( near perfect accuracy) would you choose a mini-uzi? Just try to put it into perspective and i'll be as open minded as possible.
This analogy is terrible, competitive COD actually banned the FAL as well as Overkill for tournaments.

Also, the point you are missing is that nobody feels that Kabal is unbeatable. The question is would people enjoy playing the game more if Kabal were not to be used. If the top tier characters were fixed or banned then we would see a lot more diversity late in the games life and potentially more people coming to tournaments that in the past didnt want to go play against a Kabal they had no realistic chance of beating. PL and others know how to fight Kabal and even can use him at a high level but the game feels Kabalcentric with him in the game which means it might be more enjoyable for everyone in the scene if he were banned.

Yes, MLG has banned multiple weapons. However the most OP weapons UMP/ACR are all OP and make the game unenjoyable.

Don't know how you didn't understand my analogy. I was saying how the overpowered weapons Pro COD players use are the same/perks does that not make the game fun. They are also the must unenjoyable weapons but because of their skills sets it gives the teams/players the win. Unenjoyable like Kabal.

I'm all for it. I have now faced kabal in every tournament I have been to, minus my first 2. 12 tournaments later I'm 1-11 vs the douche bag.

But lets not forget Kung Lao. I faced him In every tournament minus 2 and I am 0-12 :(

I'm haunted by kabal and Lao and they are my last 2 loses at EVO. I just can't beat them period. It drives me up the wall and I have decided to no longer go to tournaments because of them.

I'm sick of 2-8 fights with sindel. At least vs the rest of the cast I have a outside chance with 4-6 match ups.

Kung Lao actually loses like 4 match-ups and goes 5-5 against like five different characters, he is not the problem :p

Kabal is the character that loses 0 match-ups and goes even in 0 match-ups

It would be very interesting to see how it turns out. As already stated, the other top characters have 5-5 MUs. Even then, they don't feel so dominating to the point where you have to make 10000 reads just to win a round.

Also, as said in a different thread (from whomever):
"Kabal is beatable"
"Cancer is curable"

I am so uncertain as to what should be done with this Kabalfilict. After having a long game night with my buddies tonight I have to say playing a game where I am not facing Kabal is fun and I actually feel like I can do something beside crouch block and D4 all day long. Kabalistically speaking, we should entertain the idea and just see how a tourney goes, if it comes out badly no harm no foul we just continue to allow this Kabalundrum to continue and here the song of all the Kabalists out there NDC NDC NDC NDC NDC GB GB GB.

OK In all seriousness Perfect Legend why don't you and a few other top players sit down and see how things would work. Less talk more action. Until then, may the Kabal be with you all.

A tangible (baby step) could be to ban all Kabal mains from stage counter-picking after a loss. If you choose to roll with Kane's baby brother, then you shouldn't be allowed a stage advantage as well.

You shouldn't be allowed to stage counter pick at all. You never should have. In other FG it's either both players decide or it's random. Loser can re-random. We're the only community that allows it. For some reason when Kabal players started doing that rooftop day shit we just allowed it. I guess because people didn't know better. It's actually against the EVO rules but Kabal players were doing it anyway.

Noone said anything about carl winning evo until you. you should know how little respect he gets on here beyond noobies who dont know better.
Then why nobody calls him out for flat misinformation about Kabal? If it's not because he is an EVO chapm, then it's because people actually don't know or trying to understand Kabal much-up and prefer to get rid of him altogether like a child who's prohibited to eat a jam just breaks the jar with it. Sure.

also, are you really complaining because you wouldnt have a character that dominates the entire cast? good riddance.
Are you really can't read the "not" part in a "not because he is the S++, but..." sentence?

it's not upplaying, kabal actually is that good and even a decent kabal will recognize that playing the character means you're always playing your game and making the opponent play into your game. it's never even.
You're certainly right about Kabal forcing his game on the opponent most of the times (not all the time and not against all characters), but so do for example Kung Lao or Injustice Scorpion. Does that make them bannable or broken: latest deal with Inj Scorp showcased the answer pretty clearly. As for constant Kabal upplaying with rediculous statements like it's "easier to use Kabal than Kenshi" or "no even muchups and every other is 7-3 or worse": those are opinionated, arbitrary and plainly ridiculous statements.

Btw, the same thing happened in my country: former top Kabal player started the same thread at our community forum: his "surface" arguments were pretty much identical for the most part with mr. White's thus I conclude the ulterior motives are the same:

There are Kabals, which are much more technical and plainly better with the character and OP don't have the confidence to win in mirror muchups against those players, thus asking the ban.

Nice try, PL, nice try: using misinformation, rigged one sided arguments and covering everything with the "care about the game".

Constructive suggestion:
Ban the Rooftop day stage the same way Kratos arena isn't allowed. Voilà.
