Question If Kabal were banned

Not knowing as much about the match-ups, could someone spell out which characters would become viable if Kabal were banned? Or any other character. I think that is part of the initial argument. If Character A was banned, then suddenly Characters X, Y, and Z would be playable. Banning a character to make one or two other characters viable doesn't seem worth it. Banning a character so that five other characters become viable is a much more compelling argument.

If regular tournament goers made a petition stating which rules they'd like to see implemented, and say got dozens or hundreds of signatures, it would probably be something a TO would consider. At the very least, a way to add some variety.

This reminds me of an online tournament a couple months back which was "low tier only" characters (or at least no high tier) so almost everyone but low-tier-diehards were forced to take an alt. I think something like that involving top level players would be really cool! Maybe TOs would just ignore requests like this, but one thing I've found in life is that one rarely gets what one doesn't even bother asking for.

Those characters are ranked in that order according to who? REO's tier list? Did anyone forget when REO had Mileena as a top 3 character when he played her? Or how about when REO had Cyber Sub-Zero in top tier?

I'm not saying REO is wrong on his placements once again this time around, but he tends to overly pump up every character he plays

He is also a known troll too. S+ just sounds silly in a game like this but that's just me.

What about the TYM community tier list built by many top players, not just REO? Why even throw his name there lol I didn't quote him? But that's just me.
In all seriousness a few characters on TYM's community tier list could move around a bit, but IMO the top few tiers are structurally sound. So change the letters. Kabal is S. everyone is A+ and down, woo that changes that line up doesn't it?

ColeTrain because REO was the one who started all of this Kabal S+ tier and Kabal should be banned drama a while back. Not sure if he was trolling or not but it did set a negative mood for the game.

I think its funny how most of what REO was saying while back is starting to become apparent to everyone now even though he got ridiculed for it back then. But was all of that really for making the game better or just for his entertainment?

How much more excited would you be for tournaments?

Myself @16bit, @claudevonstroke all were playing around with the idea of (actually we weren't playing around with the idea) but we were discussing if Kabal were banned how much more enjoyable and fun the game would be.

The only people who would possibly complain are myself and other top Kabal players but we all started with different chars and only moved over to Kabal because of how stupid he is. We all are more than capable enough to play other characters at a high level. I feel like this would make the game better.

Smash community banned Metaknight in Brawl. I know you guys wanted to ban Scorpion but I think Scorpion had WAY more holes than Kabal does.

I will say this even Cyrax is manageable. DJT I felt like played great but I don't think he could consistently replicate that at all. All of it was really good patience and great reads. He had an awesome weekend.

Kabal I feel like destroys the meta game of MK and makes you play into his game nonstop. You guys says Scorpion breaks the game and doesn't play Injustice. I feel like that about Kabal. I'm not sure if Kabal was this stupid in UMK3.

With Kabal banned I feel like a lot of characters now become viable and the game becomes more enjoyable to watch.

I think it sucks how someone as great as Dizzy has to think like "damn as good as I become there is nothing I can do about Kabal" at least Kenshi can be counter picked by Shang, Smoke, Scorpion (to an extent), Reptile etc. But Kabal its like.....yea I hope someone else beats him.

Anyway just tell me your thoughts as a community cause I honestly don't want to see this game die and don't think like "oh PL wants to get Kabal banned cause he wants to win" I really don't care. I have won two EVO's back to back I have really nothing else to gain playing this game competitively. I really want to be able to have fun now. I love this game and I love the people I have met and I would like to keep going to tournaments playing this game and hanging out with all the wonderful people I now know and keep having hype matches with one another.

How many "Should We Ban Kabal" polls were there in the past?

What if it's too late? I think if done a year (maybe two years) ago there may have extended MK9 run a bit. But the game just needs more work done to the whole cast.

On the subject of banning, interactables need to be banned from tournament play. It's proven to dull down the game making it boring to play abd watch. At least Kabal was fun to watch.

It took us, as a community, two years to understand that Kabal should be banned. Thats a new one... Kabal should have been banned since Michelangelo or whoever was first,showcased what Kabal could do. Cyrax and Smoke can be dealt with, if you space yourself correctly imo. Kabal on the other hand is truly fucked up,if you get down his NDC string pressure. Plus his zoning is ridiculous against most of the cast. Kenshi is fine. At the highest level Freddy is worse than Kenshi imo, since he can easily control the entire screen safely and better than Kenshi, excellent meter build, has full screen frame traps, good mix ups up close, excellent damage out put in both breakable and unbreakable combos, armor, good wake ups etc, but since we havent seen what Freddy can do at the highest lvl we'll probably never know.

Every single one of you who said Kabal should be banned is on blast. Dizzy just won with Cage at a tournament with 3 of the arguably best players using Kabal atm (Curbo, PL, Jr).

Kabal isn't the whole problem...Kabal + rooftop day = a problem. Not even DJT on his best day could beat Reo playing Cyrax perfectly with a stage that big. The characters that can contain him on a regular stage have a chance of winning because of their constant pressure (Cage, Sonya), massive damage (Cyrax), or are able to limit Kabals zoning (like Reptile, Kung Lao, Smoke). When I say limit his zoning in this MU at least, this is what allows Kabal to win by the meter he builds and time he runs away, not by the raw damage the zoning itself does. On a large stage, this effect is amplified to un-winnable for all characters.

What if as a means of balance in both MK9 and Injustice, a stage cannot be repeated (Day or Night versions)? It would for be balance and for variety. So, Kabal can't get two Rooftops. Power characters in Injustice can't rely on the Metropolis Rooftop crutch. Something like that. Frankly, as someone who watches a lot of tournament streams, it'd be nice to see less Rooftops in general, lol. It'd also be nice to see some more of the other stages.

So, let's say Kabal gets Rooftop the first fight and wins. Second fight the opponent picks something else and wins. No Rooftop for the third fight. Sorry, Kabal, pick something else. Likewise, in Injustice if a Power Character picks Metropolis Rooftop for the first fight and wins, then the opponent picks second and wins, no going back to the Metropolis Rooftop for the third.

It is hard to see someone having a valid complaint that they cannot just rely on their same damn stage ad nauseum.
