I strongly recommend against THIS community having input on tournaments, unless we wish to see the following banned at every major:
  • Interactables
  • Stages with Transitions
  • Scorpion
  • Superman
  • Deathstroke

3/5; Loser should be able to pick either:

- Character
- Stage
- Interactebles ON/OFF
- Stage transition ON/OFF

3/5 is better format is my eyes. Random stage select is only fair. You wouldnt see ever power charcter running to metropolis skycrapper

3/5 Inj I agree 2/3 for MK I feel the matches last long enough in that game.
What I really think should be done with MK9 which many will disagree, which is fine, Ban Kabal! Just my opinion. I agree he can be beaten which was proven at EVO, but then again it took a Cyrax to beat him.

Agreed, it seems that no matter what changes are implimented, players will never be satisfied and find something else in the game to complain about. I'm pretty sure that's why Kano sucks now (I was guilty of bitching about that character. poor Kano.)

is there a prize if you post the 1000th stage selection or 2/3vs3/5 post? because if so it should have been handed out already

mk9 is one of those cases where banning a character wouldn't work for anything, really

the characters who get shut down by kabal will generally also get shut down by kenshi, and some like cage arguably have it even worse vs kenshi

example of what i'm getting at: viscant has discussed before how banning sentinel might have opened up mvc2 to some degree, as a lot of the upper-mid characters could fight magneto & storm but just died to sent/commando. there really isn't a way to do that with bans in mk9, since there are multiple characters who shut down a lot of the game.

i'm on board with those injustice rules for sure, though. more games means stage luck matters less...

So you want mine, and so many others' favourite character banned just because you don't like him or think that he's too good? Banning Kabal doesn't mean you'll start seeing Jade, Kano, Striker at tournaments, it would be like banning Superman in injustice, you'll still be getting Black Adam, Green Lantern, Aquaman etc.

I agree he can be beaten which was proven at EVO, but then again it took a Cyrax to beat him.
Then why would he need to be banned? A character that wasn't even in a lot of people's top 5 defeated the best Kabal player in the world. I really don't see your point here or why he needs to be banned.

I completely agree that we should take charge for OUR games. There is no reason that Injustice/MK rulesets need to be the same as other fighters.

Honestly, I think we could take a leaf out of the Smash Bros community for things like this. They have something called the Smash Back Room which is a restricted forum on Smashboards.com for people such as high tournament players, character specialists, respected theory fighters and even tournament organizers. From here, they had private discussions on the matters important to the community and would release some of this information to the public like tier lists and tournament rulesets.

The thing I see us taking away from this most is how they work their stages. The Smash Back Room determined stages generally considered neutral, and kept those as stages available for the selection process during the first match in a set. Other stages were left available for counterpick for players losing matches during a set.

At first glance, it sounds a little elitist, but consider how fast we as a divided community almost banned Scorpion. Consider how many new players/casuals complain about things they just flat out don't understand and I think a TYM Backroom could really help.

Take the Kryptonian Council to the next level. Keep up the podcasts, they're awesome. Get more players in there to make the tough decisions for the community. There's no sense for the community to be so divided on so many topics, unite them with "TYM Backroom approved" rulesets and tier lists.

Just my $0.02.

Getting people to play 3/5 sets is as simple as contacting tournament organizers. I think NLBC is already playing 3/5 IGAU.
