The future of shooters is a subscription service, but the future of fighting games is free to play. I think this is genius, but I think that games like Killer Instinct and DOA5U need to makes some improvements.
I'm alright with paying for the characters, but I would like to choose my free one. The only reason I want to play DOA is to play as Hayabusa and the only character that interest me in Killer Instinct is Saberwulf. I'm not sure how about DOA, but with Killer Instinct Jago is the only one unlocked. It would be nice If you get the game free with one character that you can unlock and every once and a while they can demo a character like LOL. Also it would be a bunch of people using the same character for about 6 months, which would get boring real quick.
My biggest issue is with match ups. I'm not going to pay for characters that I'm only going to beat up in training mode, and I don't want to go online and get bodied because I don't know the match up. So they their not playable all characters should be in training mode for match up knowledge.
I play MK and IGAU, but I've been thinking about expanding the only thing is other fighting games are $20-40, if they were free to play I would be playing tekken, doa, and sf.The only two problems with this Free to play idea I could come up with are having pre-selected characters and not having all the players in training mode. I would like to know how the rest of the community feels about fighting games being free to play and if you think that there might be any problems with it.
