Online helps her mixup stuff quite a bit so you can kind of freely take risks, offline it is nowhere near as potent.

I don't think it's people taking advantage of "online" that more use her on that platform. More about people just playing for fun online so losing is not a big deal whereas spending $500+ to go to a tournament, you probably wanna use a more viable character so you actually have a chance at making that money back.

Other good strings to make up for lake of a good mid.
KJ does not have terrible movement, Goro has terrible movement.
Can't low profile KJs best string.
So you have to burn a bar of meter to get good damage... That doesn't make a character bad.

imo shaolin's only real weakness is that his overhead options are by and large slow and reactable. Good opponents will just default block low and react property when the overheads come.

He does have B21, 2+4, but that doesn't lead to a combo after

The most difficult characters ive had trouble dealing with in the beta are

Takeda
mileena
ermac
ferra torr
kano

But it might just be due to me being to learn more about them

I know bro that's why the crying is at the loudest, ppl are comfortable with the way the game has been for x months and don't want to learn the match up while Mileena players dreams came true.... Dam now I got to learn ferra, dam Mileena too dam, vora oh noes and my char was nerfed 2!!!!! I get it....

I definitely feel like mileena is up there. I played a hella good mileena yesterday and this post isn't based on salt cause he was just flat out better than me. The problem with her is her b12 is one of the best strings in the game AND it's plus. Not to mention after a b12 if they space it right you can't poke cuz you'll get whiff punished. So eventually after the 1st b12 I started walking back after to whiff punish the next one but then they can mix up b12 ball roll to catch you. So then your stuck with ether armoring or back dashing. If you armor and they read it you get punished and lose a bar so that's not really in your favor either. If you backdash then you just get zoned out. And then if your lucky enough to have a character that outzonrs her you have to be super careful cause of her telekick. And that's not even to mention her 1 bar 52% corner combos. This character is ridiculously good. I don't know how some people don't see this.

I think this thread is irrelevant coz its beta. I didn't read whole thread but they did say on leatherface kombat kast that this is beta and not every change is going to stay. Ofc if we are talking only beta(which I don't believe) kano,jax,f/t,scorp and maybe kotal coz every nerf that top tiers had affect every character some how. Those come in my mind. There probably is very different opinions. Ash so much more chats coming in my mind who could be top 5,but Il leave it be

The entire issue with Mileena is that now people actually have to learn the MU instead of relying on her to hang herself. Naturally, those who don't know the MU as well as they thought are suddenly claiming she's top 5.

Well I will admit it's partially true that I've never played a good piercing but with all the nerfs she's moving up and I didn't mention this but backdash is usually the best option after b12 but her zoning got buffed so now what's the point? So I can slowly inch my way back in just to get b12'ed to death? Her 2nd b1 comes out in 8 frames correct? What other mid comes out that fast of can contend with that? I'm not being facetious, I'm genuinely asking what I'm supposed to do against it.
