Necromancer doesn't even have a projectile to zone with aside from hellsparks, which he gets in every variation. Flick is not meant to be a projectile either I noticed, but an annoying poking tool to keep your strings safe.
Flick you use in blockstrings, along with his footsies to make it safe. You deplete a lot of life in chip with EX amulet and hellsparks and flick used in block strings or on safe normals, as EX amulet is safe and you can't armor out of hellsparks especially EX, they must respect flick. Believe me, it may look like it's a zoning variation, but it's truly not one, because it doesn't play like one. While you can keep your opponent out with flick and Judgement Fist, they can just as easily get in on you as his specials are not meant to track a running opponent.
Then again, perhaps I just play it differently.
