What's new

Who do you want to see that (probably) WON'T make it?

Power Girl will be an alternate costume for Superman if anything. DLC characters are basically mandatory purchases for anyone who takes a game seriously, in that you need to actually handle them to learn how to fight against them. They're not going to waste the DLC budget on what is essentially a palette swap character, especially after Ed Boon told all of you that if demand was high enough, characters with similar powers would show up as alts for their corresponding character.

Anyway, add Swamp Thing to my list. Thought he was maybe in due to Boon trolling but I doubt it more each day.

I could've sworn what I saw came from Boon's twitter feed. It was linked in a thread here for which I'm absolutely not going digging.

But it seemed a lot more definitive than "just an idea." It's not exactly a revolutionary thought anyway.

but Boon held that one twitter poll for a DLC character and Power Girl won. I'd really really like it if she was a whole new character, but honestly as long as she'd get her own unique intro and voice actor, I guess wouldn't mind her just being an alt costume for Supes.

Gave me the impression that the crowd of people who follow Boon on Twitter are into boobs.

I highly doubt they'd make a business decision like that for any character based on a Twitter poll.

I agree you don´t create a character dlc or not based on a silly twitter poll these characters cost millions to create and if you as a company base your market strategy on twitter polls you should really rethink what your doing..

I know it wouldn't be the determining factor, but the fact that Boon even brought it up in the first place could mean something. Although it could just be wishful thinking on my part.

Crazy exaggeration on the cost; they wouldn't be breaking even on DLC in their wildest dreams. But the rest is pretty accurate.

Boon brings up A LOT of things. He had Animal Man, Batwing and Swamp Thing in a pic with a two treats/one trick "riddle."

Highly doubt any of those characters are getting mentioned again. And he's been all over the place with Lobo. I've got a buddy who follows Boon on Twitter and is really into Ra's al Ghul. You should ask him about the trollercoaster Boon and the other developers have had him on for months.

Given where the roster is right now and the huuuuuuuuge list of great characters that aren't on it yet--and probably won't be--the last place they should be looking to fill a separate slot with are characters on the "clone/similar powers" list, either for the initial roster or DLC.

Point being, if everyone was getting their way, this game would basically be the superfriends fighting their way through the Arkham series boss list.

Eh, it pains me to say this, but you're probably right. I guess Power Girl's chances really aren't too notable. Just curious, but who do you think will be DLC? I'm hearing people say Martian Manhunter is most likely because he'd be the biggest seller.

snip snap
It hard to say if "clone" character should be in the roster or not, of course they could just be alt costume character since I know they have the techology to give new models the same animation with relativ ease (since in one of cyborg old gameplay video we see cyborg using superman idle stand)

The thing is we only have a limited amount a character left and should they be giving to character less know for a chance to grow big and become more well known or to character that somewhat already known for fan-services.

Martian Manhunter is actually my bet for the character that doesn't get revealed until everyone boots up the disk on launch day. Like Smoke in MK9. If that doesn't end up being the case, he'll definitely be DLC. Which will be sort of a dick move, considering they have the rest of the goddamn Justice League on the disk already and clearly left him off to for no other purpose than to bilk an extra five bucks out of his fans and the OCD. He deserves a spot on the launch roster. And that's coming from a guy who's utterly indifferent to the character for now.

I'd say DLC will probably be made more out of characters with cult appeal as opposed to the current launch roster... which with the exception of Hawkgirl is currently made of pretty safe and obvious choices (I say despite the fact I didn't know half the names). If they want to do it right that is. Now if DLC wasn't decided WAY in advance and they can actually take screaming into consideration, I'd say Zatanna is basically guaranteed. But that's about it. If it was decided in advance, then it's even more about random guessing.

My personal DLC wants are Zatanna, Swamp Thing, two other B or C listers and then one forgotten A lister, which would be Martian Manhunter if he isn't there at launch. But could be anyone else if he's in.

Problem being that Power Girl isn't known for fan-service, she IS fan-service.

Scarecrow would be the shit. I can see him being balls out awesome in this game. Put him on my DLC list.

I actually find it really weird that he isn't in this game because it seems like he'd be BFFs with Sinestro.

...That would've probably resulted in some of the most epic goddamn scenes in the game's story mode.

HOLY SHIT, NRS basically Bill Buckner'd the whole game and I only just now noticed.

Guys cmon...his name is Static. The fact that you are calling him "Static Shock" shows you know nothing about him besides a TV show you probably have nostalgia for. Static is a pretty lame character and his latest comic was terrible. Anyways on topic I'd like to see Atrocitus.

Also i'm pretty sure Animal Man and Swamp Thing are going to be playable. They've been hinted the same way as others. Lots of us are expecting to see them playable in the inital roster.

That was more editorial meddling than anything. Had a good premise but they decided the artist had better ideas than the main writer.
Editorial for any and all teen hero DC books suffer from some awful editorial interference. Sucks.
