Well if its' not Hawk Girl or Gorilla Grod the I think Ed Boon will loose face sense he already teased at them for so long. As far as "Obscure" characters go, DC has been trying to push Blue Beetle for a while now as their "Hispanic" superhero so we may see him as either main cast or unlockable I think.

That's true.

Judging by the comic book standards the most obscure character for now would be Solomon Grundy and even he isn't that obscure, because of the Arkham City game, that probably most of the serious gamers own anyone.
If he makes it in, then I expect Gorilla Grodd to be the most obscure character in the game. I don't think they will go with any character who is lesser known than Gorilla Grodd.

Is Swamp Thing more obscure than Gorilla Grodd? I'm pretty sure Animal Man is. I know I keep harping on about them both, but it's just that I think they would both be good fits and both their comics have been breakout titles of the New 52. Their popularity has increased significantly.

Would be happy to see Blue Beetle, he's quite popular because of the Young Justice cartoon, shame his comic got cancelled. My only concern is that he'd play a bit like Luthor and Cyborg...

Animal Man is a joke compared to Beast Boy, who is way more popular then Animal Man, I would personally rather see Beast Boy just because shape shifting into an animal in a fighting game would be awesome :) Aso, Animal Man has practically the same powers as Vixen and I for one would rather see a sexy chick with animal powers than a dorky guy in spandex ;)

Yeah shape-shifting into an animal would be pretty cool... good thing Animal can do that now! As for being a joke compared to Beast Boy, I personally would say that you're having a laugh, the cartoon version of him is terrible, not power wise or anything like that, it's just his constant pining after Raven or Terra is so bloody annoying!

As for Vixen, well... uh... okay that's a pretty good point, not so much the sexy chick part but more female characters won't exactly hurt. But Animal Man, much like Aquaman, has had his status elevated to that of one BAMF.

P.S did you no that Beast Boy is red now? Comics are weird.

Animal Man would fit much better into NRS' DC imagination than Beast Boy would who is way too childish.
Also pulling off Beast Boys transforming engine-wise would be way too much work for just one character. No one expects NRS to do that, when they're already upcoming up with a rich story and a lot of extra content for the game.
Animal Man would be much easier to pull off IMO.

PS: Beast Boy sucks.

People seem to know characters like Moon Knight, Deadpool, and freakin Rocket Raccoon simply because of Ultimate Alliance and MvC.

I really do think this game will help with overall exposure of DC characters.

Deadpool is huge on his own, but for the most part I agree with you.

Yeah but HOW did Deadpool become as popular as he is today? And when?

Because I am pretty sure it happened after the first Ultimate Alliance game.

Not saying the game is solely responsible, but I really do think it helped.

Meh, he is in a lot of the animated films for Marvel, along with the Wolverine movie (as shitty as he may have been portrayed to be in it, he was there) and he gets cameos all the time in all sorts of Marvel media. Oh not to mention his comic is just awesome.

Also Deadpool is used in a lot of popular culture references that are seen by people who don't read comics/watch comic films etc.

Who are "people" though?

Edit: What I mean by that is I could conduct some survey where I have pictures of Spider-man/Iron Man/Superman/Batman/etc.... and ask people who they are. Not many will know Moon Knight or Rocket Raccoon, Deadpool would probably get a lot of recognition. That's why I mean by "house hold name".

Is Raven really the most popular from the cartoon? Also I'm beginning to question the singular screenshot of Doomsday we have more and more. Someone mentioned it shows Joker doing his X-ray/super, but seeing as the background is on the stage where Doomsday is featured as a hazard I theorize that it could be a cutscene from the story.

Oh hell I'm probably wrong and he is confirmed. Hopefully two women confirmed for tomorrow, the game needs it. Of course I would love many other characters instead but Raven/Zatanna and Hawkgirl would be unique additions. Although perhaps we are wrong that the more popular characters are in, I mean who would have voted for Grundy?
