112 ex ball cancel dash forward njp run cancel 32 112 command grab
is there a video or can anyone confirm this works? cause im not even getting close to make the njp after ball
cancel combo. theres like a second gap. does the njp have to connect on the way up? didnt work for me yet because of the tiny hitbox on that move.

edit: ok i found it, but this is not a bnb. its some super-impractical YouTube swag. dont waste your time on practicing that (i will though). hint: dont dash, walk does the job too.

It is practical u just have to practice it and not be a scrub. I do it consistently now

from what i feel the njp has a 2 frame window to connect. and you gotta be there in time after the cancel. really hard to pull off, probably not worth trying online.

It's still a waste of meter. He's much better off saving meter for breaker and ex grabs/parries.
Ex parries are never worth it unless your 100% sure there gonna do a low or high. Also it's a lot better than doin 112 choke it makes them scared to unsafe moves du u can get 35% off

Yeah I can't get it to land online. I panic. So my BnB is just:

112 ex ball cancel step forward 112 ball or knife, depending on how I wanna keep pressure. Its good wake up too. Make the opponent eat a 20% wake up if you have meter.

Is there a tutorial on how to cancel the ex ball? From what I can see on the video you press down but I can not for the life of me get it to work - if you press down too fast he just doesn't even do the ball at all.

Thank you.

you have to hold block/MB as you press Down,Down and release after it's canceled. I've been having to wait to visually see the ball before inputting the cancel.

edit: I should say I don't know if you HAVE to keep guard held, thats just what I do and it seems to help.

Right, will give that a try tonight.

Thank you.

so just to clarify since to me that is reading very weirdly, when you input the ball and the R2 to make it EX, don't release R2 ever, just keep it held down until you input the cancel. Don't MB then release then guard again and input the cancel.

Correct, hold R2 tap Down Down, then do whatever.

What are the typical bnb's do you guys do off of njp and an AA b1? I do njp, jump forward 1, run cancel 32, 112, command grab for 30% and AA b1, run cancel 32, 112 command grab for 29% or b1, b1, b1, b13 command grab for 28%

Here's a setup I've been doing that gives me 41% midscreen

Idk if this a true guranteed set up/ combo but I've been able to do this consistently to players. Its 41% midscreen combo/setup and really simple:

112 ex ball cancel step forward 112 knife command throw.

The combo ends with knife at 24% (or 25% can't remember) but the stagger from the knife seems to give you a small window to land a command throw (guaranteed?) Adding 17%.

Throws not guaranteed because you can mash backdash after knife.

I keep seeing that people are complaining about lack of combos in in Commando... why? His command grabs and parries are what this Variation are all about, he doesn't even need combos in this variation because of the unblockable damage he can do. Sure, Kano Ball Cancel combos are nice but unless he can do that Ball Cancel on block(He can't)... the meter is better used for his command grabs.

Anyways, I'm starring to like Commando Kano more than Cybernetic. It feels so good to mind fuck people with his grabs and parries, making them either afraid to do anything, or making them start throwing out random specials that can be parried or punished.

Let's see how long this lasts...

While I agree that Commando's focus is on the grabs and the parries, I see no reason for you to not take the damage when you can do a Ball Cancel combo. I mean it not being cancellable on block isn't an issue since you should be using it at times where they aren't blocking, either hit confirming off a string, off a punish or on a good armour read.

For example, blocking a teleport from Ermac and only getting 19% with 112 xx BF3 (20% if you end in choke but why would you ever do that... ) doesn't discourage him from just doing it since it's still in his favour. Doing the 35% Ball Cancel combo as a punish, makes him second guess his risks.

The way I see it, the grabs and parries are used to frustrate them and make them want to do unsafe things to avoid it. That's when you use your other tools to punish them for their fear of the grabs and parries.

Basically, you can win without combos, however that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to do them since he does have some combo damage. You gotta use all your tools to use this variant at it's best.

Yea my biggest weakness with Commando (all variations really) is that I don't have much midscreen damage so people get a bit cheeky even when I consistently keep guessing right because one guess for me is a small reward but one guess for them is a damaging combo that might lead into a 50/50 or something.

Need to get that 35% midscreen combo down and eliminate one of my weaknesses.
