I'm not too fond of dlc so soon after a games release. Why not just wait a month - 3 months and release everything with the game? Because it can be abused and then can make a profit. Whatever helps sales. It's a shame the business aspect of the gaming industry has evolved to such a level as to have day 1 dlc that one has to pay money for, or you can just reserves it to get it; however, with strategies like that it kind of cheats you into a reserve. Why can't Goro come with the game. I'm grateful that they're not like Arc Systems Works and charge 7.99 for a damn character, but still. It's the principle.
I don't care if everyone does it, I don't care if other people find it okay. That's on you, buy gaming is already expensive as it is. If it doesn't have multiplayer, especially online, one can beat a majority of releases in less than 8-10 hours with no replay value. it's dad. Miss the days of yore where you can buy a game and still have fun with it. Sure replay value of games still exist, but the quality has also been suffering recently too. Not to say that older games were better, because there were a lot of failures, duds, and underwhelming games to be released in the past as well. Or, one goes back and plays certain games, especially on the N64, and certain games have aged like spoiled milk, but at least there were more substance. Not to de-rail the subject, but it's hard for one, at least I think so, to go into discussing the evils of certain business practices of the video game industry without touching on other subjects. I digress for now just to stay on topic for this thread.
I don't mind all dlc though. I'm a big Souls fan ever since Demon's Souls first dropped. When Dark Souls was released they had dlc to go with the game. A sidequest consisting of 6 extra bosses, so it was a decent length, but it came out a year after release. Dlc that needs time to come out, and when I say time I mean it, is fine in my book. It's like one is paying for an expansion set once many many suns have passed. They'll get an idea to keep the community going and add something. A lot of companies did this, but now the trend is have dlc that's on the disc from the get go, because either they want that extra bread, or they're not done yet. All I'm saying is delay the game a bit longer and have the dlc characters/content on there.
