All video fighting game music is trash anyway except for maybe the recent Tekken games. Injustice soundtrack was god awful.
If I made something like YouTube and sold it for millions, I would never look back and retire.Even at least one of the co founders of YT has commented on how Google+ sucks.
Bet he wishes he and his partner didn't sell it now.
you're telling me it wouldnt bother you that you could have sold it a little later for billions? If I made something like YouTube and sold it for millions, I would never look back and retire.
Ugh...Oh please...stop defending the New World Order.Again
the music stuff isn't really YouTube
The layouts and such are.... and integrations with other things. But the tagging comes from other companies. At least understand that and point your anger toward the right entity.
Damn I couldn't agree more There is only two FGs I love the music for Tekken kicks ass and the GG games have great soundtracks as well. I have to agree Injustice has IMO a terrible soundtrack, but MK9 does have some redeeming tarcks to it, mainly the armoury stage song. All video fighting game music is trash anyway except for maybe the recent Tekken games. Injustice soundtrack was god awful.
The issue isn't making a new YTesque site its the fact that many of the channels being affected are done by peeople who have made a complete living out of it, a newer site likely wouldn't have the funding YT had to pay enough to those YouTubers.Nothing has happened to my channel thus far...but this is extremely lame. Surely someone else can create a "You-Tube esque" media site...
Nopeyou're telling me it wouldnt bother you that you could have sold it a little later for billions?
This. They really need a viable competitor.
They were making money off of Youtube before they sold it. All Google did was offer to give them more money immediately of they sold it to them instead of later. If I made something like YouTube and sold it for millions, I would never look back and retire.
Actually, this youtube stuff is NOT new. The content ID system has always been in place. The change has nothing to do with content ID, it has to do with the way Google changed the partner system.
In the past, there were 2 types of partners on youtube... "general partner" channels; which are channels that are partnered directly with Youtube. Youtube manages your partnership, and your income, and your ads, etc. You get very low ad-revenue being a general youtube partner. All videos in these general partner channels are automatically and swiftly dealt with using content ID. General partners are guilty until proven innocent.
The other type was something called a "managed partner" channel. Instead of being managed by Youtube, you are managed by an external company, such as Machinima, Fullscreen, Revision3, etc... These external companies were supposed to police their partner channels themselves, and thusly content ID was not enacted on these channels automatically; instead they required an actual notice from copyright holders before content ID was enacted on a video. Managed partners were essentially innocent until proven guilty.
However, last week Youtube changed managed partner channels into two separate categories. The majority of managed partner channels instead have become a new "affiliate partner" channel; which now follows the content ID system of the general partner system. People like myself, AngryJoe, and Max are now considered affiliate partners and suddenly the content ID system is getting charged to all of our videos.
That being said. ANYONE who publishes videos on YouTube, ANYONE who uses Google based advertising has long since resigned themselves to be under YouTube's boot. If YT decides tomorrow that the 8WR website violates their AdSense terms of service; we lose 95% of our revenue, and there is nothing we can do about it. AdSense TOS is so overbearing that Google can pretty much shut your website down for any reason they want. AdSense pays 10x better than everyone else, so we accept it and hope that we can hold onto it for as long as possible.
YouTube is the same; it pays better than anyone else... but don't be confused, FAIR USE DOES NOT TECHNICALLY EXIST. Fair Use is a ephemeral idea; it is not clearly defined and only exists IF and AFTER a judge holds your claim of fair use intact; until then, YOU HAVE NO LEGAL RIGHT to publish videos using other people's content. If you are posting a review video, using video/music from a video game, you are using someone else's content.
The reason why reviews for other content go through fine is because content owners KNOW they will lose against a fair use claim, so they don't bother. However, the problem here is that YouTube is taking content down automatically, without instruction or claims from content owners.
When I say that google can shut down your website's adsense for ANY reason, I mean it.
Its in the adsense TOS that you can't have any illegal or adult/mature content on any pages with adsense ads. Its why we have an adsense-free "mature topics" forum here on 8WR... we had previously got a strike against us because adsense was on the "Hot Girl Appreciation Thread".
However, it gets worse. Not only can you not have adsense on any illegal or adult/mature content, you cant even have adsense on any pages that LINK to pages with illegal or adult/mature content. What does this mean? It means that technically, adsense can shut us down right now, because search results (such as the "new posts" link) can link to those threads. Technically, you cant even link to Google search results that contain illegal or adult/mature content either.
But we all still use Adsense, because they literally pay 10x more than everyone else. If we lost adsense, revenue for this website would go down from $7 a day, to about $0.50 a day. So we use adsense, just hoping that inevitable day comes, it will be as far off as possible.
YouTube is the same. People will continue to use YT; and only leave when they have no other choice,
