It was a special night at WNF this week, as NorCal invaded SoCal's weekly throwdown at Super Arcade. MK vet and former top player Michaelangelo was on hand to play and commentate, along with top MK and IGAU player WoundCowboy, Nightwing player NorCal Joe, and Blind Ducky (Raven). With the NorCal players playing at a very high level and eager to put the heat on their SoCal friends and rivals, the ante was ratcheted up a notch and it paid off in in the gameplay. The Cali clash was full of great matches, and a lot of entertaining region vs. region hype from the crowd of onlookers.

This week's tournament archive is definitely worth a watch, due to the level of competition between players of various characters. HGG Ren showed up with an incredibly dangerous-looking and relentless Joker that had both the crowd and the stream chat going crazy during his matches. Emperor Theo was on fire this week with his Superman as well (beating Legend, Aris, Ren, Ducky, P. Gorath, P Board Player, and even Michaelangelo's incredibly solid-looking Green Lantern) as he tore up the Losers bracket after losing to Tyrant earlier in the night. Also our friend EGP Whatshername played very well last night, scoring wins against Norcal Joe and his sharp-looking Nightwing, along with EGP Wonder Chef and RDK Awesomo.

Winners Finals was between 3-time WNF winner RDK Godspeed and WoundCowboy's Sinestro. Cowboy started off strong, never giving Godspeed's BA any room to breathe and using his trait, shackles, and interactibles to completely control the pace of the match and win with a life bar to spare. In the second match, Godspeed started off well, but Wound used a host of frametraps and gimmicks/setups with trait to even things back up. The match came down to the wire, but once Wound rebuilt his trait, he closed the second game out with authority, leaving Godspeed to ponder what happened.

Emperor Theo and Godspeed met in Losers Finals. Superman is a character Godspeed is very familiar with, having played against Tyrant, Rip, and P Board on a weekly basis, and he looked comfortable early on in the first match. But after Theo caught Godspeed backing away with Superman's f2, he reset him into an interactible to avoid a clash and poked his way out of a desperate last-minute scramble to take the first game (leading to some hillarious commentary by a bemused Aris). In game 2, Theo started off quickly, catching Godspeed with an early low scoop and an air-to-air that gave him a solid lead early on. Baiting wakeups and controlling the airspace, Theo punished Black Adam at every available opportunity, steamrolling through the matchup and finishing out the set with relative ease.

Wound started off Grand Finals in dominant fashion, knocking Theo down to his second lifebar without taking a single hit. With Wound making use of every Sinestro trick in the book, and playing a very patient game, he closed the match out with around 140% life remaining. Theo started the next match off pressuring Wound and claiming the early lead, but with Wound able to build a full trait (twice in about 45 seconds), he zoned his way back into the match. The two went back and forth, narrowly missing each other, but with Cowbody grabbing his 3rd full trait of the match, he locked Theo down to close it and claim the victory for both himself and North Cal.

With Cowboy staying in Winners the entire way and never looking threatened, NorCal sent a strong message heading into EVO. Congratulations to WoundCowboy for breaking his second-place curse, putting Sinestro on the map, and leading the takeover of WNF. With great matches from everyone, the night was a win for the West Coast as a whole, as well as Injustice fans in general, and will no doubt setup some great IGAU rivalries for the future.

I only caught the grand finals but it sounds like a good week. Props to NorCal and the rest of the placers.

Props to WoundCowboy and good showing by NorCal at WNF. Good to see Michaelangelo again too (dat stylish hair). Overall, really sick tournament, kind of wish I could have seen the other matches played off stream.

Honorable Mention: That Nightwing player was SICK, gave godspeed a run for his money. The way he used MBDC to punish the interactable on Gotham city was so crazy, the commentators hought it was a glitch lol. Hope NorCal wrecks shop at Evo! Can't forget about the Raven player as well.

Also the Joker player that looked like THTB was pretty awesome as well. :joker:

Cowboy is the Sinestro of the world! Hold it down for the West Coast!

NorCal is joining SoCal and vegas in competitive locals finally!

And props to Ren for knocking me out into losers first round. Its a wakeup call that you cant go to Evo not knowing a single matchup in this game. I had to run through so many people in losers only to lose in a close match to Aris.

Ill be back in full force next week, and thats a promise.

Also, good shit to all of the NorCal guys. Wish I got a chance to play you guys, youre all threats at Evo. Makes me feel like an all WC top 8 at evo is definitely possible!
