Before we go on with this article... let's face it, most of of don't know a whole lot about the DC Universe. In fact, we would agree for the most part that Superman is the most powerful character in the DC Universe. Well, according to the superb list that ComicVine user elderfingolfin has come up with... we'd be off by 65 characters. This also goes to show just how vast the DC Universe really is. There are characters in this list, which consists of 106 characters, that I have never heard of (no surprise) and I'll bet many of you have never heard of either. For example, did you ever hear of the character called "The Presence" who apparently has never actually been seen in comics, only talked about? Or what about Lucifer Morningstar, Mr. Mxyzptlk?

Take a look at a few of these...

"The Presence" - The Presence, otherwise known as the God of the Covenant is the creator of the universe and rules over the DC and universe in the comic book world, though he's more often spoken of then actually seen.

"Lucifer Morningstar" - Once the proudest and most beautiful of all angels in existence, Lucifer abandoned Heaven after failing to instill free will in his brothers. After governing Hell for eons, he wandered Creation seeking answers as to his purpose for being and his resentment towards God for the predetermining of his existence.

"Michael Demiurgos" - Michael Demiurgos is a member of the Heavenly Host of Yahweh and is often described as the mightiest of all the beings God ever created thanks to his demiurgic power. However, the perhaps more renown being is his twin brother, Samael, otherwise known as Lucifer Morningstar.

"The Spectre" - The Spectre is a supernatural being of nigh-unlimited might whose mission is to visit the Wrath of God upon evil men. He is always bound to the soul of a deceased human. Three humans have been bound to the Spectre during the modern age, with Jim Corrigan being its current.

"Eclipso" - Originally, Eclipso was the first incarnation of the Spirit of Wrath who went rogue. Sealed inside the Heart of Darkness, he could posses those came into contact with it, most famously Bruce Gordon. In the New 52, Eclipso is said to be Lord Kaala, the evil offspring from House Onyx and House Diamond born during an eclipse granting him vast powers and eventually becoming the tyrant of Gemworld.

"Decreator" - Evil entity summoned by the Cult of the Unwritten Book to unmake the world.
6dc.jpg

"The Endless" - The Endless are seven, seven siblings that embody seven different fundamental forces of existence itself. Ageless, immortal and nigh-omnipotent, these siblings were the central characters of the landmark Vertigo series "The Sandman".

Mr. Mxyzptlk is a fifth-dimensional imp with the power to do almost anything he can imagine. He could transform Superman into ashes or erase him from existence, but - where's the fun in that?

Do you agree with this list? Do you think Superman is really that far away from the most powerful?

This list was created by elderfingolfin over on ComicVine.com - see full list here!

Come On Die Young
it's hard to rate him when you have Superman Prime. If it's just modern day DCU than yeah, but Superman throughout his lifetime is only outranked by The Presence.

Kono Dio Da
That list is stupid. He put Krona over the anti monitor. The other entities over Nekron, and he didn't even add the White Light Entity. Post Crisis Darkseid is fodder. And the Flash and Zoom should be way above Superman, Black Adam and Shazam

Superman Prime* is only outranked by The Presence.

Ion should be higher up on the list. When Kyle first got Ion, he literally became God. But then again, this is ComicVine. I shouldn't expect quality. Likewise with Parallax, Hal nearly rewrote history and wiped out the entire future with that power.

Meterburned Interactable Master
The Green Lantern Corp is listed as a character. WTF?

And why is this frontpaged? This isn't a tweet!

Supes isn't immortal. There are plenty of beings that are.

This sounds about right. You've still got basically the whole Greek Pantheon, plus anything celestial/living embodiments of reality to consider before you even get to Supertwat.

How do you put Despero under Superman? And Martian Manhunter low? What kind of list is this. Why isn't Kyle Raymer higher seeing as how he is a white lantern? Same with Black Hand.

Quick, someone make a DLC request thread for "The Presence"

I mean, since it is an omnipresent being that is everywhere at once, NRS can go as crazy with giving it teleport moves as they want!
