Why dont people play sets?

I don't have an offline scene at all so Ranked matches for me are my serious matches. With Player match I play around and try to learn new characters, set ups, tactics, etc. Also lag prevents me from wanting to play sets with people. I get furious when I lose to lag. It doesn't matter who I'm fighting.

ive played one ranked match since game came out to get the costume for doing so.
long sets in the lobby or friends list is the way to go

To be honest I play ranked 90% of the time simply because I can't get a match in player and folk decline me. I have sat there waiting once even for ten minutes and not a single match. The ones that do decline me don't know if it's because of the stats or what, I just want to play win or lose. Like someone mentioned KOTH is cool but I hate having to wait till I'm up to bat again. As well as I can't count on some of the people on my list because I've sent invites but they rather play ranked. There is only one person that I can count on in my list to play sets despite that he's very good I still keep going. Damn can I just play the game without worrying about people trying to keep their records pretty or rage quitting I'm just saying.

I think people should make more use of the PSN and XBLA match making forums. Those seem really dead. I had good luck addressing one of my inexperienced matchups through there at least, and if I ever get my PS3 sorted out I'm sure I'll be using it for more.

I have a pretty goodrecord and 33 trueskill so I'm okay and when you play someone with a much worse record and lower trueskill if they beat you once, whether its the first or 2nd round, they LOVE to run away... i have NO idea why.

They got so excited to beat you, they didnt want to risk losing again? I dont get it, cuz the only way to get better is by playing better people. i LOVE when i run across someone with a trueskill of 36 with a great record, i'll play until they dont want to play anymore, no matter if i am losing or not. Its about getting better and having good fights.

I'll play a set with friends and TYM people though.


In sets you usually fight the same character or 1 or 2 characters and I find that boring, I'd rather get a random person and random character every fight.

I really don't care if a player posts on TYM, what character they use, if they sent me hate mail before or whatever, I really don't give a shit. As long as the person I'm playing knows what they're doing and the connection is good I'll play them. The problem is most people in player matches that I run into are stat whores or just casuals that don't play much. That's why I play in ranked, I try to pretty much player hunt in ranked and invite whoever I think is good based off 1 game, win or lose. I only do this when I don't have friends available to play against. The shitty thing is that nobody ever accepts the invite lol.

Nobody has to ask to add me. Just send me a request if you want and I'll accept it. I'm on vacation this week so I'll have a few days that I can play a lot.

Same here. ProudDisciple & AK Pig Of The Hut can attest to this. Even if I am not playing as well as I can, I'll still rematch, say GGS and laugh at myself for making bad moves/poor reads...
My only gripe is no replay analyzer. It helps to learn to correct mistakes and player tendencies...

The people that leave after one win are rank/stat whores or they aren't looking to improve. There are many casuals online.
I agree the ranking system is lacking, and also, I haven't checked, but is there someway to limit how many people can come into a KOTH room?

Lol. We can play again tomorrow man. I've been by my girlfriends apartment this whole weekend, and EVERYTIME I wanted to play online she decided she wanted to watch Netflix. I guess because she couldn't watch TV, but yeah we'll play again. Playing you made me realize that I don't know shit about Ares. I never fought one that I couldn't beat until today.

Is there no way to record matches at all ey after the fact?

being able to limit KoTH would be nice.
