Why dont people play sets?

I try to find decent players online in ranked but when I run into one 90% of the time they wont play outside of ranked. What is so good about ranked that players refuse to play outside of it? Is it because I'm a stranger? Seriously, you really don't get better playing ranked. It's catered towards gimmicky playstyles and one trick pony's.

Because all they care about is their record? And I don't think anyone takes player record seriously. (and only they take any online record seriously).

I go to Ranked when I'm just looking for a few quick games. It's nice because it's set up so you just move on.

What I DON'T get is why people don't play sets in player match. If you have a good record and the match is close, play at LEAST a best 2 out of 3.

If one guy gets absolutely destroyed though, I get that

i just play ranked till one of my friends get on. i normally dont play sets vs people in ranked since 9/10 they have no clue how to actaully play the game.

I can't play regular matches because anytime I come across people with a score like 800/20 they just decline every single time they come across me (Player Match rank boosting lol).

And if I do happen to get a player match against a decent player they either win until they lose then quit or lose until they win then quit:rolleyes: .

Also I play ranked because you can never find good player matches and king of the hill rooms have so many awful players that its really a waste of time.

Well I'm usually pretty clear and just say "hey, would you like to play a few?". It's not about revenge, it's about just playing the game.

Well I'm finding the players in ranked and then just trying to get the ones that I think know how to play to join a player match. It's not like they don't know who they're about to play because they just played me.

I myself will go ft5 if the person in player match stays and is near my level. If he's getting absolutely destroyed I leave after a few games because I don't like uneven matches. A lot of people still leave after only one game rather than try to learn a matchup though I've noticed.

This is something I've wondered for a while. What I think they should do for MK10 is in ranked matches you HAVE to play a best 2/3. Whoever wins that gets 1 win added to their record. Leave player matches as-is so people can play indefinitely, but at least this way in ranked you have a chance to adapt.

Usually I agree... but if they send a message with the invite saying they want to play more games or practice the matchup, I will play them.

I really need more people who play on my list. I only really have locals from VSM outside of a few players but they aren't always on.

There's alot of people who play Ranked because its the fastest way to find a match. Ranked match is where I spend most of my time practicing and playing. Tried to do player matches for awhile but it gets really old winning the first match and then the fraud with the nice record just quits immediately. I also run into names I actually know/heard of/seen on TYM in Ranked more often then Player Matches. I only use the rooms to join KOTHs

I love to play sets. Casuals are fun and everything, don't get me wrong, but I find playing sets to be a tad bit funner. It's like a mini tournament for fun.

Lol psn is home to the online rage rematches. I usually give someone at least two or three matches in case they were not using there best character, but there isnt much enjoyment in winning three matches with 75% hp left. And even when you find a room full of good people in KOTH, one person always leaves, and an absolute scrub that waste the 1min timer and spends match jumping backwards always comes online to waste everyone's time, making other good people leave.
