Well I played it as a kid, but started back again when it came to the XBLA in 2006. I got hooked on it and the online community was actually fairly big for a game that was like 15 years old. We would get around 5,000+ active players weekly. I played and kept playing, and I got good at it. Then Midway went bankrupt and they removed UMK3 from XBLA but if you already had it you could still play. But interest started dying down after that happened, and now people only play the garbage MKAK version. Some very few still play on MAME though, and most that play on MAME are good players.

I didn't like MK9 because I was still on the UMK3 high, I never gave it a legitimate chance. Not until Injustice was about to come out. I started playing MK9 more and actually enjoyed it. Too little too late though. I still prefer UMK3 and MKT to ANY other fighter, but that's just my "Old School Legend" preference.
