Sub. I thought he was stupid, broken tier OP. MKX is my first fighting game, so his clone utterly wrecked me, because I just didn't understand the game. However,I never asked for a nerf or whined about it, beyond a very very deep sigh, whenever someone picked him. Lol.

Takeda and F/T. I felt like both were very strong.

Congrats for being one of the few who chose to level up against the Ice Clone instead of whining for nerfs because it was different. More people need to be in here admitting this one tbh lol


My mistake would have been Kotal. I thought he was trash because of his slow ass specials and he is a big Ol character, but he is actually an excellent character and a lot of fun

I was wrong about erron black being able to zone

Edit: im surprised by all the takeda picks. Even in the kombat kast he always seemed super slow to me which is why i never thought he'd be that good

A couple of notable ones I've seen that a lot of people got wrong

Sonya being top 5
LK being weak
Cage being weak
Sub being OP
Tremor being weak
Predator being weak
Tanya NOT being batshit insane
Eron Black being OP
Jacqui gunshots (lol)
And I think we still wrong on Reptile, character is dope

Yeah, I definitely thought Takeda would be better. He's bad but he's still "scary bad' in the sense Lex was in Injustice. He's got so much broken-good stuff but it just doesn't seem to come together.

I also though Ferra/Torr would be better- or on the assumption the jury's not yet out on how good/bad F/T is- I DEFINITELY thought they would be a much more popular character.

I'm guilty of believing Takeda will be broken OP (even before game came out!). I've learnt my lesson.

I've also believed Sub0 will have no major struggles in his GM and especially Unbreakable variation. I stand corrected. Especially if it goes for Unbreakable. He looked OP just on paper.

Liu Kang Demo and SF Sonya need a good player to shine
Which Cage? Johnny Cage can be considered weak with a bunch of hitbox issues taking away all of his viable pressure options. And his jumps....seriously, take a look at his jumps and laugh
I don't know about Sub but I only see online player complaining about Sub being OP
Tremor is too early to tell. Predator needs a good player, like Sonya (can we have hope in SonicFox?)
Pre patch Tanya is obviously batshit insane. Watch CEO please. Then she got nerfed. She deserved the nerf.
Erron Black is not an easy character to use. He's not broken but he's OP. He has godlike strings, godlike special moves, godlike lauchers, godlike armors in all 3 variations. He also has, like THIRTEEN tick throw mixup out of almost every string he does. How can people think he's not OP? ( I know SonicFox is smart and works very hard with Erron, but let's talk about the characters)

Reptile just got buffed before EVO. But take a look at the Reptile combo thread, you may have different opinion about him

I also thought Goro would be this game's Doomsday.

you clearly have never played kenshi ever. his specialty is space control and zoning, besides, kenshi isnt a very good zoner unfortunately

There is multiple players in this thread alone saying they thought Sub was OP. The community as a whole made the salt report for whining about Sub was OP. Now in hindsight very little people think he was actually that OP.

That's... great... once again with this needs a good character shit. People had him placed top 3-5 when he clearly isn't, nobody is saying hes bad hes just not that crazy

At the start of the game, there was a lot of complaints about Jacqui, and her gunshots. Now, its safe to say everyone was pretty wrong about Jacqui being strong

Before you try to tear apart every single statement in someones post just for the sake of it, maybe you should try working on your comprehension. I didn't even say half the shit you are arguing against

I'm the type of person who is very patient with video games, since I've been somewhat competitive for more than a few years now. I understand that each game has a learning curve and that an unstoppable gimmick is just one discovery away from being useless.

If there was one character that is worse than I thought they were going to be, it's Ermac. After seeing his insane mid-screen meterless damage and quick 50/50s, I was certain that he would be nothing less than top tier. As a Mortal Kombat and 2D fighting game noob in general I failed to realize that he is super unsafe.

I slept on Tempest Kung Lao at release, but I mean, I think a lot of people did? lol

When Tanya came out I couldn't see "anything special" lol

I thought Kung Lao was good but not great, but also I thought Buzzsaw was his best variation

Also I thought Jacqui and Kotal were pretty good

Goro seemed to be pretty good to me when i first got game. So did jason. I still think Jason is better than he's given credit but they're both clearly lacking.

The only thing I really got wrong was thinking kenshi would be amazing based on the initial reveal, but I've stuck with him through all his glaring holes.
Ermac on a more mild case didn't live up to my expectations.
