'ello baby, did you miss me?
Based on MKX we've seen a lot of different things can happen to Revenants, whether it's staying a Revenant or being resurrected and it going well or being resurrected and it going poorly. And based on what we know of MK11, the Kabal we see most of in the story might not even be from the current timeline.

So I wanna see where everyone's at, we haven't seen this character in a long time and what are people's expectations? Which direction do you want Kabal to take?

Dead and a dickhead, or alive and a dickhead, or alive and good, or dead and... good?

I was like "Damn, looks like the overwhelming majority agrees with me", then I realized I was the only vote.

Anyway I'd like to see him join the Back Dragon again through some evil machination.

From the dialogues so far, seems like he's a bad guy.
Yeah I'd like to see him evil but most his dialog makes him seem neutral at worst.
Keep in mind that Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Kitana didn't all sound (or look) like assholes in their MKX dialogues. Intro dialogues can be very deceiving in NRS games.

That's why I asked about what you'd like to see, instead of what you expect to see.

I liked reluctant hero Kabal in MK9. He's boring as a villain.
Right now he went from Quan Chi's bitch to Kano's bitch. And that's just disappointing.

Kabal would have been a great character for battling his morality. Even before he was a revenant, he was ashamed of what he did for the Black Dragon. But now even in his human skin it seems like he loves his evil ways. He isn't charismatic enough to be an interesting, one-note bad guy. I'm not a fan.

I'd like him to rule the Black Dragon if Kano is not around (like it was in Deception), or at least be the co-leader.

If there's something I'd like them to brought back is that side plot involving the Special Forces, the Black Dragon and the Red Dragon from Deadly Alliance.

That would be rad for MK12. The Netherrealm's been a huge focus of MKX and MK11. It could use a break and give up some time to the Red Dragon.

I agree with keeping Kabal bad. We have so many good guys in circulation already. And besides, the storyline of "everyone who gets resurrected turns into a good guy" is getting old. Maybe Kabal shouldn't regret being a Revenant. Maybe he loved going back to his "don't give a fuck about anyone else" ways.

I really don't get the appeal of returning to the Black Dragon. He got permanently scarred because of Kano in this timeline (at least in Kabal's mind) so that seems highly unproductive and cheapens him. He doesn't have to go full on good guy, I'd prefer he act as a brutal vigilante more so than going back to what he was before as that is purely regression. I'd like him to work with Cassie, Scorpion, Sub-Zero and such but refuse to work with or trust Raiden and even be physically confrontational with him. He can break new ground without being simply "good" or doing the same things again.

I agree. The thing is... I don't think NRS wants to bring back Mavado, Hsu Hao, Kira and Kobra lol and most people would despise the idea anyway. However, I think Daegon might have better chances.

In any case, it's an opportunity to either revamp those characters in every way; or make new ones that are cool!

Just remember the cartoon version. He was sick. Vigilante that fights Black Dragon.
In MKD he was one of the most boring characters.

Yo him battling his morality would be a perfect arc for him! Awesome idea

You never know, Kobra is actually one of Tyler and 16bit's favorite characters from the 3D era.

And we'll see the Red Dragon at some point or another, they're an integral part of Kenshi and Takeda's story.

Oh, my days !
He's not a protagonist. Never been. Not very interesting as they tried to tell his story .
Unfortunately NRS always had him being somebody's inferior (aka as many would say bitch). He is only interesting in-game and (like many others in mk11) I'm not into his voice actor change since his MK9 one was great. Nevertheless, his fatality and xray in MK11 are the best we've seen so far. Only Saibot's fatality bests his.

It blows my mind how many people want Kabal to be a villain. His transformation into a morally-driven vigilante is like his only defining story feature. If you take that away, all you have left is a douchebag with hook swords.

I mean, sure, there's also his injuries, but his moral transformation was the result OF THOSE INJURIES. The character doesn't even make sense anymore if you take out the "... and then he became good" aspect.

Tired, But Strong
Fleet-footed Black Dragon enforcer. Kabal's sprinting speed is only outpaced by his greed. He was a rookie cop until Kano tempted him to sell out his police department for cash money and a spot in the Black Dragon. Kabal has run down anyone who's crossed Kano ever since.

Gotta say, his bio doesn't really inspire confidence that he'll be much of an anti-hero in MK11, regrettably so, but maybe we're just getting jerked around. Hmm. Erron's bio is also seems pretty incongruent with previous lore, and he also now apparently has ties to Kano... Are NRS desperate to give Kano some buddies?

It's his only defining story feature... so far. There's no reason why that would have to remain that way. Villains can be interesting characters and Kabal can be one of those interesting villains.

Besides, I wanna make the point that the fact that we've never actually seen Kabal be bad, and therefore never seen him make the transition from being bad to being good, we're missing out on a core part of his character and backstory. We don't understand the struggle he went through. We're missing a huge, arguably the most important, chapter of his life.

Actually starting him off as a bad guy and following him through an eventual redemption, for once, would go a very long way to making us understand the soul of the character.

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
Remember, y'all. In the old story, he didn't rejoin the Black Dragon; he reformed it from the ground up. While Kano was elsewhere/almost being turned into a lizard person by Daegon, Kabal reclaimed his hookswords from Mavado, picked up Kobra and Kira, and put the Black Dragon on his back.

I've never really cared for the idea of "good guy" Kabal. I always felt he was better suited being a Black Dragon enforcer/smuggler/whatever. It's my hope that in MK11, something of actual consequence happens to Kano for once and Kabal assumes leadership of the BD by the end of MK11, even if only temporarily. Nothing against Kano. I love the rotten, crass bastard. But if he's yet again not going to have any sort of story relevance, then it's time for Kabal to make a stand and have his turn at the head of the Black Dragon table.

Good Kabal < Evil Kabal

I kinda like his cop-goes-bad storyline more than his thug-goes-cop storyline.

I never care too much about most good-guys, and Kabal is better off evil or neutral, good doesn't suit a character like him. Of course it is fun to have a freaky looking character that is actually gentle, but no for Kabal, speed powers are better of on evil characters.
