What we all want to know about Cassie Cage

Scott The Scot

Where there is smoke, there is cancer.
Yeah, her brawler variation was my favourite! I hope they keep it.

This was also my #1 brutality in the whole game:

Damn! It was really satisfying.
I love Cassie and that really is a top notch, S-tier brutality... But everybody knows the undisputed best brutality has to be Leatherfaces Butcher variant...

'ello baby, did you miss me?
Why is it so important that they're not hot when they have the technology to make great looking player models?
Sorry for late response but I did mean to get back to you.

That's the thing -- it's not important to me that the characters are not hot.

I'm not arguing for ugly characters, I'm arguing for NRS's freedom to choose.

If MK wants to have all the characters be gorgeous supermodels, great, they have the right to make their superheroic characters look like idealized versions of us that we can aspire to be. Because as you say people do like looking at pretty things (people).

If MK wants to have the characters look like real people, great, they have the right to make MK story mode look like it's being acted out by real actors, and many actors definitely have blemishes and are not perfect (if we were even able to quantify what "perfect" means in terms of aesthetics). Because maybe NRS wants the story mode to be taken very seriously by the industry, and this is part of their vision for that.

If MK wants to strike a balance, where characters who are meant to look like supermodels (e.g. Kitana) look like supermodels, and characters who aren't don't, great, that's their right too.

That's what I'm about. I don't particularly care which way NRS decides to do it. I just want people to get off their back and let them execute whatever vision they want.

And for what it's worth, I do think Cassie should be one of the better looking characters (based on my impression of her from MKX), which at the moment I'm not sure she does. But I'm not gonna base my opinion off a render where she's scowling, with her face angled away from the camera. And it's possible that NRS is taking her in a different direction as a character so maybe it's appropriate for her to look different. I'm not in a position to judge.

Go over there!
Personally, all I want from Cassie's new look is that snarky/sarcastic twinkle in her eye from MKX. It was a key component of her one-liner deliveries (same for Johnny) and it's missing from the short footage available to date, which admittedly only shows her angry expression. I'm withholding judgement until we see more comprehensive scenes and poses, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

I agree with all of that, but I don't think to voice our opinions on what they look like should automatically be seen as a bad thing, people are invested and will have opinions. It doesn't mean they will we right or wrong, but most people will have opinions. Some people will think Cassie looks fine, but she's my main and doesn't look anything like herself and that's my biggest complaint. Some people will love Sonya's face some people will hate it. I actually really like it, especially in her classic costume. I know they usually fix faces later on so yeah we should have more patience but in the meantime, we do need something to talk about that's not technical because the second the beta is out, our heads will be filled with so much frame data and combo strings we won't even notice these things.

Yep, her delivery of 'Sorry, did you just say kick my ass?' to Kitana is what made me really love the character. Her look as well, the undercut, the aviators, it may seem like minor details but they're important especially in a video game. As you said we only had a few seconds of her on screen so I'll wait until we get her reveal trailer.
