What's new

What are your serious opinions about Mortal Kombat X?

Although I like some of the new characters, I have an Xbox360 and I'm not chomping at the bit to get MKX when its finally available for me.
I dont understand why most people don't care that Tag Team is gone. I thought it was the best part of Mk9. In fact some players would ONLY play tag team. I'd see some incredible combos with tag team, it was just mind blowing and made the game soooooo much more exciting to play.

It was so hype when Tyler Lantern would transition from one character to the next to make giant combos. That is serious skill to me.
Now its just 1 player on 1 player which is kind of boring and doesn't keep me as excited like tag team did.

I always wanted to play it but it wasn't online was it? Like to have 2 people together on one side and 2 on the other? Similar to SFxT? You had to control both if I recall correctly. It was cool but I never explored it much cause of that.

I'm not even sure if it's better than Killer Instinct gameplay wise, one thing for sure the music isn't
I honestly love KI's meta, but I think it is kind of to early to compare the two games as one is almost 2 years old, and the other is just almost 2 months old.

A month into MK 9, and Injustice's release, I've enjoyed those a lot more than I have with X at this point. For me, online is a mess, there are times when a red connection is damn near flawless, but a green connection is a slideshow. I get burned out on the towers rather quickly, I would've just prefer the challenge tower come back. The story was incredibly meh to me, just because I thought they were going to go the same direction as the comics, once I found out they weren't, I stopped caring for the comics completely. Some of the variations just seem lazy to me (Seriously, fuck Mournful). And I think it's just because it's early in the games life, I hate how rush down oriented it is. I still love the game, I just love 9 more at this point, hopefully that changes later on

I only play online, im never in the lab. Tag team could be 1 player vs 1 player, or 1 vs 2, or 2 vs 2.
I remember how fun it was when 2 players would destroy my Sektor thinking I sucked and then my Mileena would come in and BODY them, they didn't know which way was up. Oh the endless hate mail I got. Good times

40% combos off of 50/50s lol. Staph. I like MKX a lot but they got waaaay too carried away with the 50/50s. yes most are unsafe and slow but what about the ones that aren't?

I do however completely disagree with this "party game" nonsense. Yes the 50/50s are ridiculous and anti airs are weak but besides that this game is fantastic. I love how fast it is. Fireball Cancels make me feel like Jesus.

I don't mind 50-50's as it is my fault for getting put in that situation in the first place. I play plenty of games where pretty much 1 mistake can cost you the match so it's not that big of a deal to me as others make it out to be.

Story: Weakest out of Injustice and MK9 but was okay overall. Ending had me thinking of Deception all over again. Deja vu in an "Um okay..." sorta way.

Gameplay: Fast, exciting and unforgiving. Rewards players for knowing frame data, and spending time in the lab.

Visuals: All of the levels looks great in my opinion, and I cannot think of any instances where characters camouflaged into the background. (Think Guile in USF4 Jurassic Research facility)

Sound: Sound effects are great, the music is forgettable but better than previous iterations in my opinion.

Delivery: I own this on PC; the patching issues, and how this game was pushed out really tested my patience. The great looks and fun gameplay kind of made up for this but the delivery was a glaring weakpoint for the PC port.

Game is pretty awesome, i learn a new thing about it every day, and already started to noticed what the bad habits of this game are.
The more time i spend with my characters, the more i see the meta and the possibilities of what their tools were designed for.

Still discovering, and NRS did a wonderfull job, gameplay wise no complaints.
Who do you main? Scorps?

Loving the game. It's still rough around the edges, but that's how new fighters are. 6 months from now shit will be in great shape.

I have only 1 complaint. The weird block stun in this game can be incredibly annoying. Whether it's you trying to punish a move like Liu Kang's bicycle kick, execute an armor attack in a string gap, or sometimes even poke after being poked, the windows to do so feel weird.

Liu's EX bicycle kick is like -12 on block or something, but knowing when to throw out your punish requires knowing how the special works, or in this case, when the special truly ends. It's different for different characters (e.g. Scorpion's leg tackle, Raiden's Superman). It's sometimes very tough to punish something that should be simple. For instance, as Johnny Cage I'll try to punish with F2,4 when I know I have the window to. Sometimes the F2 doesn't come out and I just get standing 4 which gets me blown up.

NRS gave us 10 minutes to do a fatality, but wont give us a break on specials that are clearly meant to be punishable. HATE THAT.

MKX is WAY better than MK9 and Injustice. The balance feels better, the game feels faster, it's more footsie based than both of those games, too. The music and soundtrack also craps on MK9 and Injustice.

I like pretty much everything about MKX and it's almost the perfect game to me. Also the competition is 10x harder and bigger than it was for any NRS game.

These next few years will be LEGENDARY.
I feel the same way with what REO said. I LOVE playing this game. :)

Lots of style, very little substance. The Japanese still reign supreme over everything involving melee(Hack n Slash/Beat Em Up, Fighting games).

Immortal Kombat

almost moderate success
I think everything is pretty good on this game for now. There's some stuff that's obvious, and we all know it will be patched in the future but for now it's fine.
The only concern I have is the netcode.
We finally got the perfect game, and our community is getting soooo much attention right now thanks to esl.
It just really sucks that the netcode is worse than its ever been. There's honestly no excuse for it on a new gen system.
Cause of that, I have a hard time believing the casual players will continue to play this online.
