What are the most annoying variations to play against?

May as well make my list:

Full Auto Jacqui - Yeah, yeah... the guns are neutral duckable blah blah. I win some, I lose some vs her... doesn't make it any less annoying. When someone picks full auto jacqui, I just consider picking random select and playing yolo with whoever I get.

Summor Quan Chi - That damn 1 frame mixup into trance into the mixup all over again takes my life bar more often than not. It makes me sad. :(

Shirai Ryu/Lasher Takeda - Never played a ronin, but I'm sure that would also be included in this annoying piece of shit. He's like a noob's wet dream. Feels like he can just jump 53521 times and tele at random times with some stamina so that it's safe and then NJP 2532252543 times. I actually play a very good Takeda player and I take games off him regularly, but holy fuck I hate playing against this character.

Hellfire/Inferno Scorpion - Don't even really know how to explain this one. This'll do, FUCK SCORPION.

Fisticuffs Johnny Cage - Punch, punch, punch, punch, punch, punch. Need I say more? lol

Probably more, but... can't think of them right now. lol

Falls down too much
People really hate Fisticuffs that much? JC really has to work to get people into a position where fisticuffs doesn't suck.

You know, the ones where when you're playing online and your opponent picks them, and you roll your eyes and think, "great... this person is probably gonna play like a little bitch..."

...and then they do.

For me, it's these:

1. Kung Jin (Bojutsu)
2. Sub-Zero (Grandmaster)
...
3. Scorpion (Inferno)
4. Raiden (Thunder God)

#1 and #2 take the cake, by far. Although I will admit... Out of my 1,100+ online matches, I played against one Grandmaster who was actually very impressive. He did not play like an annoying little turd like 99% of the other ones I've played against... He simply destroyed me and left me in awe. It was incredible. That's the kind of loss I'm very happy to take.

Bojutsu, on the other hand, is nothing but annoying, salt-inducing infuriation. Every single time. Even when I win, I'm still salty about it, haha.

What are your picks?
in no particular order:
(1) grandmaster unless I counter pick with Tanya. When is grandmaster ever a fun match to play? the answer is never
(2) inferno - why is this a character. It's not OP by any means, but is particularly good with online lag and so annoying to play. Also, it takes like 20 minutes in the practice room to have a "good" inferno scorpion, which adds to the annoyance
(3) ermac - can just play keep away and hard to punish his unsafe moves online
(4) In General, I find most zoners on the annoying side, but full auto Jackie is by far the most aggravating to play against. Can I be patient and win? Absolutely. Is it fun? Not really.
(5) shinnock imposter - another brain dead character who can pretty much chip you to death with meter

That's it really. the sad part is the disproportional number of players who pick these characters, especially the first two.

Any character with a quick overhead/low that you know is coming but get blown up because of lag. There is no offline scene where I live, so online is my only option, and I'm finding now that I see the combo, recognise the string (or see Inferno go for a demon and fuzzy block) but by the time the server get's my input it's too late, unless the connection is steller (which usually means I'm playing somebody inside the UK). I try to shrug it off, but sometimes I wish the game was just a little slower, just a smidge, to compensate for the lag (things probably don't work like that way though).

One thing I like to do is occasionally eat the last kick in the 214 block string. Very few scorpion players will make the read and hit confirm. Instead, they'll most likely finish their cancel combo and you can wake up attack to punish with force ball or something. I don't know ermac that well

There it is...
grandmaster sub most flowchart character i've encountered ever.
Hellfire scorpion, way too braindead for how effective he is.

I seriously doubt he is make the read, otherwise it would be teleport for more damage and no meter. Probably just lucky.

I don't know why, but I never really struggle with the MU. It's ironic, because inferno catches me all the time. We'll be at sweep distance and my brain goes "surely he isn't dumb enough to try a yolo rise vortex from this distance." And I get caught an absurd amount of the time

By read I mean reaction. He must be reading that he thinks you might do something after the full 214 string and is taking a safe option for a possible read.

This dream has a sad ending
  • grandmaster subzero(jump back ice clone, string, ice clone, string, ice clone, overhead/low, ice clone)
  • inferno scorpion(fucking standing resets for days, better do overhead x spear os to make it safe)
  • jax and his safety sometimes is infuriating
  • Kung jin(OH I'M NEGATIVE BETTER NJP)
yeah, that's pretty much it

Let's see, variations that are annoying to play against..

Scrub:
Variation1: Angry Scrub - This one will mash rematch no matter how many times you block and punish his ninja slide.
Counter: Don't rematch unless you want to farm wins for some arsebackwards reason.
Variation2: Drunk Scrub - Probably doesn't even know which game he's playing, so he picks Full Auto Jaxette thinking it's a shooting game.
Counter: Sit low, block rockets, wait and blow'em up hard.
Variation3: Hypocrite - Zones madly, cusses you out on channel for getting outplayed with his own shit. aka: OMFG I wanted to do that!!
Counter: ignore button.

Tard:
Variation1: Retard - Tells you how great he is on his stream then declines you in ranked.
Counter: Decline him in ranked.
Variation2: Jumptard - You can aa him a million times, he'll keep trying to cross you up.
Counter: AA him two million times.
Variation3: Cuntard - Picks top tier, plays like it's April 2015, cries at you for kicking his repetitive ass.
Counter: Tell him to learn new tricks if he wants to win and then ye olde ignore button.

Munchkin:
Variation1: Stream Monster - OMFG beat me on your stream so ppl can see what a fan I am plooze!!
Counter: sry bro missed your invite.
Variation2: Assmonkey - He can only play a character that he knows he'll only get wins with and declines anybody who could possibly beat him.
Counter: No need, he'll decline you.
Variation3: MainPlz - Plays everybody, sucks at all of them, tells you to pick a new character and omfg u scrub u only play 1 main.
Counter: Point, laugh, ignore.

There it is...
What makes hellfire scorpion braindead and grand sub flowchart?
Scorpion has complete air control, combos that take 3 seconds to learn, he has by far the easiest run cancel in the game. I could go into great detail about it but hes clearly designed as a beginner character.

Grandmaster, put up clone/ throw iceball/throw clone/run in do 50/50... do string into clone. Watched tom brady and reo and even two of the best couldn't make this character look vaguely skilful.

I wouldn't say he has complete air control but his j3 air to air is very good. There's other characters that can contend in the air to air game. I don't think fbc being easy is a great reason to call the character braindead as well. If he could just control the neutral game risk free I'd agree with you but by those standards I think a lot of things in this game can be considered braindead.

As for sub in grandmaster, he does have a general goal. Move the oppenent to the corner and keep them there but reads and etc come into play big time, especially in certain match ups. If it was as easy as going by a flowchart I'd think we would see a lot more successful sub zeros. Again though we can all make the argument that a lot of characters want to put you into certain situations where they choose between a few options. I always looked at a flowchart as more of a player style than a character design.
