I don't have a One, and MS has convincingly shielded the internet from it being posted anywhere, but these pages deliberately mention "disc-based" every single time online limitations come up;

http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/get-the-facts

These passages in particular scream disc games only;

Your Xbox One doesn’t need to be connected for you to enjoy offline features of games. In fact, you can take the Xbox One anywhere and play any disc-based Xbox One game on it.
After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
It's not silver bullet, but it doesn't look like they ever said no 24 hr checkin for digital titles, which in microsoftenese means they totally said 24 hr checkins for digital titles. If we're lucky, its at publisher discretion, and not a blanket term, but that wouldn't save any title publisher by MS, ie: KI.

More of a reason that KI should be on PS4. I KNOW MS owns KI dont give me a paragraph of telling me BS. Im just saying that is should be on PS also.

This video clears some of this up, but it does not address the multiple claims in this thread that involve the original system owner and why the wifi must be deactivated.

I do believe what he is saying it lends some validity as long as some one here can validate this person and who he is and that he was present at this tournament. It totally makes perfect sense what he has said and it clears this claim up.

If it happens again at a tournament or elswhere i'd be freaking out, but this is the only incident i've heard of so far, and I play offline a lot on mainly digital titles.

I don't think it's the "return of DRM" people are making it out to be... but we'll see.

In any case both consoles are still pretty good over all, had very few issues with either.

I absolutely have been enjoying my PS4 and maybe one day I may get an XB1 just wanna see how things an out for the system currently. I as well don't think this is a return of DRM in any way either MS would get hit hard by the fans if they brought that BS back. What I do think by reading many claims of things like this on the thread is that there is a glitch or a bug in that may need a patch.

Thank you for clarifying, I assumed that, but I always seek a clarification. I honestly don't like putting out bad information. I really didn't realize that this thread would have kicked such a freaking hornet's nest.
