There has to be bad characters

Do you just enjoy disagreeing with me for the sake of it? Because I feel like this has been your goal every single time you've ever quoted me. What exactly is your argument here?

I never once said it was possible, in fact, my original wording was going to be "this is obviously impossible but the ideal direction we should aim to balance towards" but I figured it was redundant and implied with the words "IDEALLY this is the direction".

Obviously there is too many variables to make it likely, but just because we can't achieve "perfect" balance doesn't mean we can't get a lot closer to it.
Your original post: "People are like "but my character is only mid tier!" and I'm like... so? That's where ALL characters should be."

Except there are top tier characters in this game, so how can you expect people to be happy with mid tier? What you're saying doesn't make a lot of sense. This isn't a perfect world and it doesn't matter whether characters should all be mid tier, the fact is they aren't, so you can understand why people feel their character struggles.

There do not have to be bad characters

Weaker, but a character like Grundy or Sheeva does not need to languish in shit tier in this day and age with matchups that are nigh unwinnable at a high level

This is a dated talking point IMO, if NRS would ever take the time to keep up regular balance and maintenance we could theoretically see a game like MK X where no character is handicapped by 7-3s or 8-2s like the other NRS titles feature
7-3's are not exclusive to NRS games though. I feel it's becoming way too fashionable to just throw the letters "NRS" in a negative light around here.

In shooters it's okay for a gun to be bad because it's just a gun.
People actually do get attached to guns. That's why so many of them return and are asked for often if they're not present in the newest iteration of whichever FPS.

NRS games are the only ones I play and understand at a competent enough level to feel comfortable throwing out matchup numbers; I don't doubt other games have them but if I were asked to give an example I'd be SOL. Also, mentioning NRS specifically was meant to highlight how they could succeed with their particular patching style if followed through on. I wasn't trying to throw any shade towards Netherrealm, although I see how it reads that way looking back

they need to buff Goro so he doesn't feel like a cheap piece of bait to pre-order. he was advertised as if i were supposed to give 2 1/2 fucks about him being a premium pre-order bonus for me....and he literally might as well have no arms....or T-Rex arms. Goro sucks, he's trash, he absolutely is soul wrenching bad. You see bums pick him and just punch-walk...but honestly, its almost impossible to set up a decent damage string without it. His jump and ground pound are so telegraphed and obvious, that if Stevie Wonder used Kenshi, they'd blindly get a flawless together. Then you give this dude " Dragon Fangs " ...might as well gave this fool dinner forks...plastic ones...he still ain't causing any wreck! Tigrar fury is like meth-smokin' Kintaro variation and shit. Now I actually USE Goro in my lineup, so this is from the perspective of a guy who feels like hey...why not make him balanced to what he should be. He's the WEAKEST brute....and he was a BOSS character at one point.

Yeah obviously some characters are going to be better than others, but it would still be nice if every character was good enough to be used in tournament. Like the gap between top tier and low tier is very small, that would be awesome

Don’t know what to put here
Completely agree. Not every character should be top tier. Sub isnt and i have more fun and success with him than anyone else!
