Wtf is up with these breaks holy shit lol. There’s like 3 sets left, why did you need a 10 minute break?

Damn... I would HATE playing against dragon when he does all defensive lol. Seems infuriating. Sonic fox also exposed the weaknesses in Cetrion’s wall move, although there were moments where the wall oddly hit Sonic fox despite not actually looking like it landed lol. Also, was there many Cetrions? I only watched top 8.

 

The matches in top eight were absolutely incredible! Congrats to everyone involved. Now bring on the balance patch so we can get some character variety! The number of times Geras, Erron, Cassie, Jacqui, and Sonya were used this weekend was appalling.

 

Great top 8, absolutely fantastic. I’ve been a critic of Aquaman but he did a great job tonight. Also in the top 128 I saw no Dvorah, Johnny, Frost, Shao, Raiden, Kabal, Kotal or Kollector. I only saw Kano, Jax and Noob once. Geras was in 3/4 of matches. Hope they deal w him.

One other person whose name escapes me used her tonight, but I don't remember seeing her at all the rest of the weekend. I was a little surprised given how well Dragon has performed with her in past tournaments.

Dragon's fluid gameplay is easily my favorite thing to watch in MK11's pro scene. He has figured out Cetrion's ranges to the ultimate level and does so damn well using her amazing forward/back dashes to get right to where he wants to be. Shame he just cannot for the life of him manage against SonicFox at all.

Everyone understands the rationale of kompetitors using the best characters to win cash. It’s a non issue from a professional standpoint. Problem is that despite people understanding the above fact it doesn’t change the fact that watching the same 4 characters slugfest in the top 8 is mind-numbingly boring... and it’s been like this for about 3 majors. Sure, there were a lot of repped characters on the EVO stream in pools, but god, once you hit that top 16 mark, it became more or less the same. Voicing concerns as a spectator doesn’t equal to complaining about why doesn’t x player use y.

 

Yikes...that top 8 was boring. It pains me to say this, but having MK11 on a Saturday seemed like a good call.

Really wanted to see TekkenMaster get another shot at Fox in the grand finals of Evo. But jfc what a mop that was on sonics part. Shit was over so quick.
