He's pretty clearly trolling, some random guy says "Scopion too op nerf pls EB" and EB just responds like "K, #whosnext" and then he responds to another guy saying he doesn't think he's op with "Nah, lol, too late imma nerf Scorp #whosnext" as if this is how NRS actually decides on balance changes.

Didn't you play MK9? Smoke was kidnapped as a baby by a cult that wanted to sacrifice him to summon a demon. They succeeded but the demon use the baby as a conduit(and killed them) and they've been bonded ever since. The demon was an Enenra, a smoke wraith, and it's what gives Smoke his powers. I think it is to be assumed that the either Smoke fully embraced the demon after his death or that the demon gained full control of him.
