did they make inputs way easier after launch? i remember struggling a lot with wind god step (the shoryuken input) and quick succesion inputs, now its no problem at all anymore.

I don’t know but have you thought about the possibility that you improved?

you can wave dash or get ewgf by thinking of it as forward, neutral, diagonal downforward. 2 directional inputs instead of a typical dragon punch. If you can wave dash on one side you can use the same technique to Korean back dash on the other, it’s the same b,N,db,b,N,db etc

i dont think i have improved. ive played fighting games for 30 years and i dont get magically better from not playing something for a year anymore :D. but if there was no patch maybe it has to do with the controller, im using a different one now, with some stick technology thats supposed to be drift-free.

Namco fucked up bad with season 2.
More plus on block into stance mixups in a game with terrible movement, lots of tracking, armor on frame 7
They go in season 2 and double down on the shit we wanted reduced, game is doomed ngl

Here’s a nice run down of the new character moves and why they are controversial from Spag (who definitely has a lot of knowledge since he’s in the commenter booth all the time)

That’s a lot of the fun of Tekken. For the past two games, at least, the devs seem very focused about removing extra “steps” and streamlining the game (see things like adding moves to cover character weaknesses, or auto aligning off-axis combos).
This approach has been associated with Tekken 8, but truthfully Tekken 7 was the pioneer of this, giving Steve homing on his df2 (which was thankfully nerfed), giving the 50/50 character Anna more range on her FC df2 so you have to guess more often. Launch Leroy was case in point. He had tracking moves, solid mids, good reach.

I mained yoshimitsu in Tekken 7, he was a highly evasive and complicated character. In Tekken 8 his combo damage and offensive buttons have been so buffed you can make do with like 7 different yoshi moves.
I still enjoy Tekken 8 though there is always something new to learn. they are doing their best to make it more approachable for new players even if that means getting rid of legacy systems

the thing that bothers me the most is the lack of move data (hit type, frames etc.) in the move lists. that makes developing anything really cumbersome. but right now i want to bite through this.

So i just stumbled upon this last year, can't remember which month, and what exactly i was looking for in practice mode, but my execution had been on and off because i wasn't playing everyday.
So after playing for a week, i took a notice that i touched upon this as a launch once, and decided to try it again, and voilá, apparently Jin can microdash B21 combos out of savage sword, it's just that the aplications are pretty sparingly, but still worth learning, as any specialist, you will never know when you will need it.
