Super Smash Bros. Brawl AND Melee

Gotta say I highly disagree with you dude ^^, on the contrary online play is the future and especially in Nintendo's case, I must say although ALL fighting games lag online it'll be awesome online. Nobody is going to want to go to tournaments, in this point in time tournaments is ridiculous. Nobody is going to fly to another country, state etc just to play in a SSBB tournament, even if it is for money or whatever. Every fighter is online right now or going to be (ie..VF 5, Tekken 6 even...) and of course SSB series.

Who the hell wants to play the computer or beat the snot out of your 4 best friends 100 times or travel many miles or god knows where just for tournament when you have online play and can play from home?

Online play is the way to go, every fighting game is online now or going anyway so why not SSBB? I really don't see making this game offline logical to be honest.

Besides, nintendo has great online play. DS play is great online I can tell you since I play every day Mario Kart, Puzzle League, etc.

I don't see how SSBB going online can be the downfall of this series, if anything it's the best thing for SSBB overall.

Nintendo's fighting game going online finally...it's about time if you ask me.

As for more secret characters, I think the game at this stage has enough characters lol. Mega Man, ehhh honestly I couldn't care less if he makes the cut or not, then what's next? Ryu, Sub-Zero.... lol since Snake made the cut and all.

This game will be lots of fun, I won't play it nearly as much as my MK games online but I'll play it. :)
I dont mean any offense at all but...

Have you ever played/gone SSBM competetivly/tournament level?

Its a WHOLE different game, the game itself and the way its played is changed sooo drastically. Online yea, I am looking forward to it in some aspects, im just afriad its gonna kill the local tournament and smashfests and STD's that made the game so damn fun.

People thought they were beyond god when they played offline (I know ALOT of ppl in my school like this) and as soon as they play Online they manage to get decent and go "okay im mad good now i rape online" but the truth is there not great and offline tournaments and strats are whats gonna make you develop the mind games and skills needed to be the best. Offline proves everything, you could be a Internet Pro and be just as amazing offline such as Crazy D in MK.

You really have to play it at a different level to appreciate it.

Edit: Extending on the characters in brawl.

Snake is an ORIGNAL NINTENDO CHARACTER. He was not 3rd party.

when melee was coming out. Hideo Kojima asked and pleaded and begged for snake to be in it. Sadly, it was too late to put him in so they added him to brawl.

Just a little clarification ;)

I can't defend MK here but I have been to tourneys and yes it is a different change. Everyone used techniques such as wavedashing, edgehogging, pivoting and such but since online is coming we can play others who know these skills already. =P

And LI, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that Snake was on a different platform before he went to the NES.

You're not offending me man, it's fine. Honestly, I see what you're saying but don't see the relevance high level playing has in this case....I'm not referring to high level play, low level play or average I'm talking about online/offline. The level of play is easy, you're either good or not lol but that still is no reason to NOT put SSBB online. Personally, it's a lot more convienent then worrying about traveling, spending god knows how much money only to most likely not win anything in return. I mean even IF it's a case where it's strickly high level players playing the game, who's to say one of them won't get knocked out of the first round and win nothing? All that time traveling, investing in the tournament(and most cases a fee) would have been for nothing, a waste.

Not to mention also dude, online play expands comp but also allows players to test their skill to the whole world, not just parts of it as if it were offline. I'm fairly certain nobody from Japan is going to want to travel to USA or Mexico just to compete in a SSB Tournament. You'll be spending more money traveling then gaining overall.

That can be said about any fighting game online compared to offline, but the point of the addition with online play is easy. Expand the comp, you ca be a high level player online just as much offline. Only thing you'll have to get used to is the lag adjustment which every game experiences online at some point or another, even the mighty Halo 3....

Don't be surprised if the online play kills some tournaments, I'm sure they'll still have them in japan and such just not elsewhere like Europe, USA, etc. Online is just easier and more convienent honestly at this stage in video games.

Nobody goes to the arcades anymore, nobody wants to travel.

BTW, STDS? Illl yuck dude..

BTW, Snake I don't believe is an original Nintendo Character. Where did you read that? :?

Snake is an orignal NES character, Hideo Kojima invented the Metal Gear series back in the day.

Sony offered him a new offer so he went with it and Metal Gear became a sony product.

I was discussing online earlier and my friend was once one of the best marios a few years back (silvershadow, watch MARIOTALITY on youtube) and he was explaining how at a low level and average casual play Online should make it fun etc. I understand that viewpoint, Mine was SOLELY on the advanced and high level play.

Online seems like it could be somewhat enjoyable when your just messing around, but i don't think its gonna be proving grounds for how skilled you are at tournament play... Or maybe it will be and im totally wrong.. lol

No, Snake is NOT an original Nintendo character...just because the first MGS game was on Nintendo at first doesn't make him an "nintendo flagship character"

Snake never was and never will be a "nintendo character"

I'm aware of the fact that he made his first appearance on NES but again, that doesn't make him a "nintendo flagship character" like say Mario, DK, Metroid or Link etc.

lol, it's cool dude, I already posted the facts.

Metal Gear didn't actually debut on Nintendo. Konami has always owned the rights to Snake and the games have been on various platforms (the first game was released for MSX, NES and DOS/Commodore 64 in that order).

Metal Gear Solid may of come out first on the PS but that isn't where the Metal Gear series started.
