Story Mode death predictions

  • Liu and Lao kill their revenant forms so they have "another chance" at being good and not ending up that way.
  • Young Kano dies, thus erasing old Kano from existence.
  • Old Jax dies doing something heroic, probably for jacqui, and young Jax takes his place for future games.
  • Old Sonya dies being a bitch as usual and young Sonya takes her place for future games.
  • Old Johnny dies to save Young Johnny so that Johnny isn't erased from existence all together and tells him to be a little more serious so he'll have a better future than he did (divorced/broken family etc) as he dies.
  • Both Kitanas live and Rev Kitana turns Netherrealm toward a more neutral force
  • Red Raiden dies cause ya gotta have good Raiden to fuck stuff up in future games.
  • Baraka and Kollector die cause that's what jobbers do.

Idk, I was just trying to give NRS some credit for putting in some twists and I feel like it'd get kinda old if for literally every character it's "revenant dies, past version takes their place" or "old version dies and young version takes their place"

Usually I have a lot of fun with these threads, but not this time.

I'm really dreading the possibility that current-timeline characters will be killed off to make room for their younger selves. We literally just had a fucking reboot 2 games ago. The last two games were great. MK11 will be great. There's no fucking need for a reboot!

MK characters deserve to have character development, not to be their stunted 90's selves all the time. I'm tired of the same old tropes, the same old one-dimensional characters, the same old rivalries. I want new shit. Not as in brand new characters to replace the old ones, but as in the old ones to have depth through new experiences. So yeah, that means committing to the Revenants, committing to old Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Kano.

But a lot of people seem to disagree and want the "iconic" versions of characters back, and I have a feeling NRS will pussy out and do that. I'll be very frustrated if that happens. I want to be emotionally invested in these characters, not have my emotions rebooted every second game because "change is bad!!!" and we have to go back to the status quo.

I hear you, but I feel like they wrote themselves in the corner for jumping so far in the future with MKX, its a mess and if this game ends up rebooting again just to start clean again for the sake of better story writing, im all in. This franchise has the potential to have really great storylines with a proper writing staff. The4thSnake did amazing work with his Wasted Plotential videos that I just want a fraction of his work in any future titles, but its not possible if the MK9 timeline keeps going.

I even have a feeling we won't see MK12 for a VERY long time, Ed Boon said in an interview he wanted to do other types of games, sounded much like Mobile games which keep people addicted or something like that.

So I guess he doesn't care for the story anymore, this will be one of the last MK games for him I believe.

Also I'm gonna be really pissed if they kill off Kotal, Erron or D'vorah, such new characters shouldn't be killed off so soon, just because Mileena fans are crybabies who can't see that NRS wrote stuff, and that D'Vorah is just an awesome character.

Cetrion on the other hand, I know she won't die, but I hope she will lose her Elder God status, so maybe I can like her in MK12.

Current Scorpion will die and return as a spectre.

Rain died in Tanya's ending.

Oh. Kronika. At the end. Either Geras or ICONICtrion will defeat her in Mortal Kombat.

And they'll all come back because no-one stays dead in Mortal Kombat.

I don't know, I don't know .... but I have a little feeling that Kotal will die in MK11 .... Shao Kahn is way more popular among fans, and, IMO, twice badass as Outworld ultimate ruler, so, I think the timeline stuff on story mode, will work in a way to bring Shao back, in order to restabilish him as the big boss he was , and so, for this happen, Kotal has to die .... with fight and honor, but, die at Shao Kahn hands .... :D

This could be a fun discussion if death wasn't so pointless. Whoever dies will result in temper tantrums from their fanbase that NRS would have the audacity to try and write a story.

Personally I hope Mileena makes a cameo just so D'Vorah can give her another big smooch :D
