Here are the patch notes guys:

The GI buffs are very annoying, but I'd say that was a good patch for both Azwel and Maxi, so I can't complain. I'm just scared that while both my characters received some decent buffs (and more importantly hitbox fixes), Kilik received a wall of red arrows.
If it makes you feel any better Raph’s prep RE changes are a huge slap to the face, it’s a big nerf to him. Tira got some weird buffs I guess lol.

I totally forgot about that tbh, I was so stuck on the prep RE thing and Kilik getting buffed after they made guard damage not so absurd and unavoidable. Yeah it’s a good buff for her.
I was able to avoid guard damage with no problems, you just had to use GIs when strictly necessary. I'm really sad they buffed them again, such an annoying mechanic.

You still took guard damage for even doing the GI which was the issue, making the right read punished you

You would still steal your opponent's turn. How's that punishing?

Stealing a turn in a fighting game is a big deal, it shouldn't be free. I think GIs should either cost meter, or have a waaay smaller active window, otherwise characters like Kilik can make everyone of your turns a 50/50 between GIs or disrespecting with quick buttons.

It's because unless you're GIing a weak level move the reward you're getting off of a GI in this game is weak compared to previous games & the GI cost was significant for almost no reason. GIs already have a huge risk due to the existence of all the GI Whiff punish lethal hits in this game & Break Attacks actually being good in SCVI. A lot of characters already have poor defensive tools & backstep isn't super hot in this game so GI being a poor option was not good.

GIs on weak level moves is the problem though. GIing heavy moves is much harder and completely fair.

Also while some characters have weak steps, they almost always have good tech crouches and tech steps to compensate, kind of like Siegfried. I think GIs as a weaker option (they were still good tbh) allowed for more interesting design, and less abuse from character that were already a little too safe.

The problem is that in the highest level of play guards were getting crushed a lot at tournaments. It was very difficult to avoid getting crushed by some characters, especially Siegfried. Party Wolf would barely play Kilik at tournament and when he did Kilik normally got crushed pretty hard by the top tiers of the patch. I hate fighting him too, and GIs are annoying, but they’re not in a ridiculous place anymore. They don’t cost you guard if you do it successfully anymore. In some situations you had to choose between GIing some of Nightmare’s moves and losing 24% guard stamina or not GIing them and losing 30%. It wasn’t a reasonable situation.

That's a fair point, I haven't thought about that.

I still think GIs should be changed in some ways though.

I would just prefer they removed GI levels and made the GI window less forgiving, making it more like GI battles in SC2.
I'd stop complaining about them. GI levels are the dumbest idea they could ever come up with... besides REs I guess.

The two ideas from this game that no one really likes, GI levels and RE. I can deal with them but they’re super obnoxious. GI levels are really the big problem with GIs atm I think. The window is still pretty forgiving but that can always be changed if necessary. They continually nerf RE because people hate it, it’s unfortunate that some characters are almost designed around it.

I disagree. Successful GI's shouldn't cost meter and they don't necessarily steal turns as you can re GI. They also can be blown up by blue moves the same way RE can. Let's not forget that a lot of characters have auto GIs which weren't affected at all.

GIs put your opponent in a mixup situation between a launcher and a break attack LH into full combo, meaning you are in control. Besides after I successfully GId I sometimes like to move around a little instead of going in for the mix, and I can do so quite freely. That's stealing a turn if you ask me.

Regarding aGIs, it's true that most characters have them, but they usually only work on certain attacks (like horizontals and not verticals etc.) and almost never kicks. Also the active window for aGIs is usually much smaller (as I'd like normal GIs to be), making them much fairer. Some characters can get obnoxious with them though, like Tira.

None of those options you mentioned are guaranteed because if the opponent makes the right guess, you could be the one eating a full combo. I agree with the aGIs only working on specific moves but as far as the window, tell that to Amy.

Tira’s aGI is good but it had a serious issue where the head butt after would whiff. Supposedly they fixed the issue but we’ll see, when they said they fixed her 3B whiffing several patches ago it whiffed even worse and they had to change it again in a different patch to fix it.

I'm honestly disappointed by the new gear items we got in the latest DLC. There's maybe 5 things in it, if not less, that I like.
Ah well...

The real benefit of the armor pack is the music. I love the music from the old games, I wish they included SCV music because I need Raphael and Tira’s themes from SCV.

GI levels have been around since SCII
And they were dumb then too.

Obviously there is risk involved. That's the point. You can't pretend to steal a turn with little risk.

Regarding aGI active windows: notice that I said usually.

My playgroup's Tira player seemed please with the aGI whiffing issue fix. We'll see.

That’s good, I haven’t had any time to test the changes because I don’t have access to wired internet and I’m in the midst of moving. The only issue I saw most Tira players, including myself, had with her anymore would be B+K whiffing on a successful aGI. If they fixed that I’m happy with where Tira is at as a character.

She was a dumpster fire on release but she was very solid before the most recent patch. If they reverted the throw break window change she’d be pretty ridiculous because her throw game is good.

@SaSSolino have you played a good Amy yet? After playing one pre patch I can’t believe she got buffed. Once she gets roses the character is absolutely nuts. I ate a 1B LH and it did 100 damage for no bar. At least she requires a pretty hefty amount of skill to play in this game, kind of like Raphael. Just with decision making on what tool to use in which situation rather than straight up execution like Raph.
