Soul Calibur 6: THE SOUL STILL BURNS!

What are some other basic / easy characters beside Sophitia?
If you understand frame data, I'd say just play who you like. No one is really that hard with maybe the exception of Maxi. Voldo has his backturn stance, but as long as you're aware that your options are different when you go into backturn, then it's really just a matter of familiarizing yourself with what his buttons do in that stance and just optimizing.

No matter who you pick, there's going to be at least one obtuse option you'll have to learn. Even Sophitia has angel step. For 3D games, it doesn't pay to use accessibility as a character measure unless your favorite happens to be one of the hardest in the game. Soul Calibur isn't really built like that. Play the character you like the most.

Or pick Kilik.

What do you mean? The graphics are great. Not like graphics are very important anyway.
They are ok I get it, but they just look cheesy. Go look at injustice 2 and then come back and look at sc6 it’s night and day.

Sounds like it's not the actual graphical capability of SCVI your critique was aimed at, but rather the aesthetic style of the game. SCVI is a beautiful and polished game graphically, however, the style in comparison to Injustice 2 is very different, as SCVI is more Japanese anime style while Injustice 2 is a lot more Americanised comic-book realism, meaning the style is quite realistic, but with all the characters' proportions fitting the more typical superhero comic style, which of course makes sense considering that's what the game is about.

When it comes to style, it's not about what is good or bad, but rather what your personal preference is. If you like one over the other, then that's fair, but it doesn't mean the other style is worse. It's just not to your liking, which is fair enough.

However, if it was indeed aimed at the graphics and not the style, then you're just plain wrong.

What a day. What a lovely day.
I mean, he’s not entirely wrong. The game looks great overall, but there’s still a lot of noticeable muddy textures and jagged edges.

Will it stop me from enjoying the game? No, but with such a small budget it’s to be expected.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the anime character art style especially when it comes to female design but that's just in general. That being said the game looks really good to me even if I'm not huge on anime.

Ok so when I speak the truth it’s negative. Got it.

And yes the graphics aren’t bad but they just are nowhere near as polished and clean as inj2 and that is surprising for a game that came out 2 years after.

The truth can be negative.

Unlike I2 which had WB funding them, SCVI was made on a budget made by Bandai Namco who doesn't have as much faith in the SoulCalibur franchise as they have in Tekken.

As long as it doesn’t look like MK4 I’m content. I care more about the animations and gameplay. The animations in SC6 are far superior to anything NRS has done so there’s that. NRS games have some of the worst animations I’ve seen for a modern day fighter.

The graphic fidelity does look a little lower than some of the more high end offerings out there, which is probably why matches load faster than a lot of what has been coming out. I'm more than happy to take that trade. It actually kind of pisses me off how often looks are seen as a fair trade for impacting performance. If I'm going to be playing hundreds/thousands of matches, I don't want to spend as much time looking at the load screen as I have been with Tekken.

Also sounds like this was not a high budget title. I'm quite certain IJ2 was anything but low budget.

Kind of wondering what the PC performance is going to be like. I run Tekken 7 fairly well with some concessions. SCVI looked to be less demanding from the beta and the requirement is only 20GB hd VS Tekken7's 60GB, but the video card min requirement is a little higher.

I thought I had the min spec card of 1050 TI, but my system isn't reporting the TI, so maybe I just have the base 1050. I chose the 1050 specifically for it's ultra low wattage requirement and don't really want to buy anything that uses more electricity (1060 is looking might be ok in that regard but still not close to 75w).

I wasn't concerned with buying the PC version Friday morning and downloading while at work, but now I'm wondering if I should take a wait and see how much control over graphic options we end up having. If I can get away with what I have then I want the PC version. I'm not sure I do if it requires an upgrade I really don't want to make. I guess a PS4 Pro runs at as much as 310w, which means with an upgrade my PC could potentially still use less juice than my console. Hard to say though, it has a lot more stuff going on and is on more.

From what I’ve seen from people who have gotten the game early, definitely happy with my main two choices right now. Groh and Seong Mi-Na have some dirty stuff. I saw a Seong Mi-Na max range CH punish, that ends with a CE, doing 50%+. So sick.

After I lab these two to death, I’m gonna at least try every character out.

Really glad Warriors Orochi 4 came out today, otherwise this wait would be unbearable, lol

Are you saying he's easier to learn than other characters?
If he is, I'll never find out. Seong Mina for life!

This is pretty much where I stand. The amount of time lost waiting for load times in Tekken 7 is unprecedented and borderline unforgivable. It seems petty, but it literally affects how many matches I'm allowed to play in sets.

I mean, the graphics in SC6 aren't BAD. I think the disparity among player opinion is due to the presentation style. They're going for that anime aesthetic, so the result looks like previous-gen characters wearing current-gen clothing playing in current-gen stages. I do wish it had Tekken 7's level of character detail, but it's a small price to pay for industry-standard fucking load times.

So I'm going to pull the trigger today and pre-order. I'm on the fence on whether or not I get the deluxe or standard. Let me get this straight with the deluxe I get 4 DLC characters and 2 armor packs? That's it? I don't typically play many DLC characters and I feel I got hosed on the I2 deluxe edition. Not sure what to do....

edit: looks like you get 100 customization parts with the deluxe as well.

If I don't order the Deluxe does that mean I can't lab those dlc characters?
I was wondering the same thing. I can't seem to find any info about purchasing a season pass separately. I assume you'll still be able to buy the DLC characters (they only exist to bring in money for the studio, so it wouldn't make sense not to sell them), but I'm not sure about the extra armor options.

I'm sure you will be able to get the sp later, and it's likely the only way to get those customization items. T7 had items in the season passes.
