So this game came with my Xbox 360, but I hate first person games. I'm also not into knight and dragons, but my Dad has this super huge tv. Im here for the weekend on vacation... Anyway I just cant get into this game. Does anyone here play it? Any advice? I haven't even made it out side of the tunnel im in at the beginning. Some dragon just attacked, but everytime I log on I get bored and quit for two months.

you can play it in 3rd person maybe that can help with the POV issue u have.

other then that if u really dont enjoy it dont force it on yourself. just sell it for something you think youll enjoy.
since ya know selling used games is still relevant atm

I didn't like skyrim. I like wondered the whole map and found like 3 trolls, where was all the cool fantasy monsters?
And you gotta be like OCD to really enjoy most of it with its smithing n shit, just stressed me out like job.

Don't do the main quest to start. Once you get out of the cave at the start just turn the quest off in the journal, go to the map and find what ever city you think has a cool name and start walking there, find your own adventure don't just run through the quests the game gives you. Also, don't be afraid to run away from a fight.

Aww shit <REDACTED DUE TO FEELINGS> its Shapzam
Level up whatever you like. Use whatever weapons you like.

I don't recommend using magic for a first run.
I also recommend you pick up something like enchanting or smithing at least to make moneeey.

LEGEND

YES!
put it on the hardest difficulty you can manage and just do random shit

Do main quests and anything you may hear about in game that sounds cool whenever you want. Trying to follow a direction in elder scrolls games makes thing much less fun

Edit: as mentioned above me, magic kinda sucks in Skyrim. Its just not very fun and much more restricted than previous iterations

I don't know... If you don't like it now it wont get much better. It is going to be pretty much the same all the way through. Of course a lot of things change... but fundamentally the game is going to stay as an exploration/quest type of game. There is always other stuff to do... but it really wont be worth it if you don't enjoy the game. You should probably just sell it. ;)

The only advice I could give if you were serious about the game is to follow the compass. It will pretty much always lead you in the right direction. If you cant even get through the cave part though... I mean after the cave is where it gets interesting... so hopefully you can just grind it out and make it through the cave. Make your way towards the first town. You can follow the blond guy all the way there...

Another bit of advice would be to talk to people. Once you get into town you should pretty much talk to everyone. Not only will it help set up the story, but the people will teach you things like how to smith/how to craft a potion. There will also be a side quest or two...

In general the game is free roam. So you can pretty much go where you want and do what you want. So I would suggest making it to the first town which takes maybe 25 minutes on your first run and start doing some other stuff. If you still don't enjoy it after doing the first story quest... you probably still wont enjoy it. It is worth a shot though.

I always liked going on murder rampages, killing as many peasants and guards as possible and stealing all of their pants before being taken down by an angry mob. Surely I'm not alone...

People are saying magic sucks, but it really doesn't. Don't just use fire destruction spells over and over. use illusion, conjuration, alteration, and restoration. Illusion is probably the most fun skill in the game, once you get the area of effect spells nothing beats walking into a bar and setting every one on a rampage.

SKyrim is one of those games that has grow on you. It seems boring at first, until you find the style you like, I enjoyed using two styles the Conjurer style and the Archery. In order to get into the game you ahve to go everywhere and anywhere and you will enjoy it. If you stry away from the main quest after the intro part you will avoid all the random dragon encounters. It is a fun game, but you gotta be ready to wade through some of the boring stuff first. I like Oblivion better personally

I personally loved Skyrim. I thought it was fantastic. But you really need to be in to that type of game or forget it.

I love it, i think you gotta have a good imagination to really enjoy games like this though.

Yeah, imagination plays a big role in RPG games. Skyrim is amazing, it does get a bit repetitive but that's where the imagination part comes in. You have to immerse yourself into the world and really "get into it". Sounds pretty nerdy but that's how I've played Skyrim. I even read most of the books in the game to get more in depth into the overall story.

Aside from that, the leveling system is what makes the game a lot of fun, like most RPG's. I've been a Warrior using a double handed Kitana with heavy armor; a Theif who steals everything from houses, to pickpocketing, who sneaks up behind enemies and slices their throat; and right now I'm a Mage, which is arguably the best class in the game, and I'm wrecking shit with all the different spells you can use like summoning creatures to fight for you, raising dead corpses, using destruction magic like Fireballs and Lightning Bolt.

depending on what you want to do it can be pretty awesome. It really does have alot to do with role playing though, if you just want flashy stuff to happen and cutscenes this isn't the game for you, but if you want a free roaming experience where you can do pretty much whatever you want to a certain extend it's fun, you can be an assassin, you can be a werewolf, a vampire, a knight, a wizard, a ranger, evil, good, neutral, you can fight with large swords, dual wield small swords, bows, crossbows, magic, shields. it's really customizable with the attributes too for where you want your characters strengths.

Example, I have an assassin that excels at using a bow, being stealthy, and daggers, with lots of stamina, medium health and no real magic power, I have a werewolf who runs around in a loincloth most of the time, when I get into a battle change into a big monster and fuck shit up, eating people, ripping out their hearts, knocking heads off and mauling people. I have a wizard who sets rooms on fire, turns invisible and summons tornados and demons while being practically magic immune, he is weak to physical attacks though. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but the level of freedom they give your character is pretty sweet.

For any one who wants a fun skyrim challenge I have somethinga for you to try.
1.No death. If your character dies you delete the saves. One of my favorite ones to do.
2. No hud. In the options turn hud opacity all the way down. You can no longer see your health/magicka/stamina or the compass/quest marker.
3.No fast travel. Probably one of the worst immersion breaking things in the game. Fast travel completely removes the amazing exploration aspect.
3.5 No map use at all. There are signs along side roads that you can use for directions.
4. You don't personally kill anything. Use illusion, conjuration and companions to get other people to do the dirty work for you.
5. No crafting. Crafting lets you get weapons armor and potions that are several times more powerful than anything you can find normally.

Combine all of these and you get the Skyrim Ironman challenge. The best I have done while doing all of these is beaten the dark brotherhood, Mages guild, and Thieves guild, +Thane of all the holds. Died from a blade trap in a dwarven ruin while doing the main quest :(

I'm a huge fan of the Elder Scroll series and have been playing Skyrim since it was released.

I would advise you to put some thought into what type of character you want to create and roleplay. Think about your character's background, personality, and what guilds he or she would gravitate to. Roleplaying makes the game more enjoyable.

The way I personally play is to have three objectives to take care of whenever I play. As an example I could plan to explore and loot dungeons, complete a guild quest, and complete part of the main quest. Most of my "random exploring" (never ever fast travel) will take place as a complete those objectives.

I prefer to use a wood elf pure stealth build. I mainly use daggers, potions, and poisons and supplement that with a bow. I leveled up sneak, archery, and alchemy as my primaries. I also became a vampire due to the stealth perks. I offset the negative effects of vampirism with certain enchanted accessories. I try to explore at night and tackle dungeons during the day. Once you own a house the game definitely becomes more fun because it gives you a place to stockpile items and display your items.

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys! I guess my problem is that I'm not nor have I ever been into this game or games like this. I think Pokermon was a RPG right? That's the only RPG I liked. I'll work at it some more though.
