SF3: 3rd Strike Online; News, Updates and Info!

disappointed in the sense that Super SF 2 Turbo HD remix was rebalanced but this one wasn't.

If you thought Kung Lao in MK9 is bad, try facing off against Chun Li in 3S. I'm so thankful they revamped Chun Li after 3S (CvS2 and eventually, the SF4 series).

1: 3S Chun Li pissed off even Daigo (google up the epic comeback of Daigo against Justin Wong in Evo and listen to the commentary), one of THE best SF players in the world. That should say alot about the need to rebalance 3S. IMO, I find her WORSE than Ibuki in 2nd Impact.

2: on my very first time to play 3S, I picked Chun Li and had a 5 win streak against seasoned players in the game.
most of the people that complained about chunli don't even know why chunli is so good in 3SO, they are just bandwagon people repeating the same thing that they heard. You won't see people the reasons why people complain about CL unless they actually know how to play, such as when to use back fierce, fierce, or kara throw.

what pisses me off the most is ken. Ken can hitconfirm almost anything to his SA3 and the recovery of shoryu. Thank god shoryu are so easy to bait and punish

i think it's out now on PSN. i'm going to have to wait until I get paid until I can get it though because books just drained the last bit of money I had left.

dont buy this if you want to play online at all. they allow you to ban 3 characters in all online modes. so everybody will be banning characters they dont like. waste of $15 if you want to play online.

You can ban Ken, Chun and Yung? Welp, ppl do say 3rd strike is alot more exciting when its high level matches where these chars arent used....

most people don't even utilize those character to their respective tier. Its like people hopping the viper bandwagon in SF4 and MvC3 when they find out shes easily better than most of the cast but to their dismay they suck balls with those characters.

Sorry if there is a thread for this or something..

Just picked it up. Completely new to the SF series(never liked the ridiculousness of it; oh the irony being an MK fan..) and I don't know much. How do you time parries? what's general strat you want to use? I'm maining Ibuki as it is right now and seem to have her down pretty well.

Parrying is pretty easy once you get used to it. The tip is to just read your opponent rather than reacting when it comes to parrying melee stuff. Projectiles is all about knowing the timing of them (ie ex hadouken, remy's disc).

is Parry #6 the oro one? that one is actually pretty simple. The timing is faster than a shinku-hadouken. Its basically a "give-me" once you can parry two consecutive hits.

3rd strike is mainly about reads. For instance, every time I empty jump its a preemptive parry/grab option select. If they try to anti air Il'll parry it, if they do nothing I land and grab. The only options they have is doing an anti air that does multiple hits or to tech the grab.

The biggest thing in 3rd strike is how fast you can download the other person and just outplay them while not taking stupid risk.

That Oro one is a lot of fun to do. I can't do the Dudley one but every other one when you pull it off I feel like I accomplished something lol. Learning combos in this game is annoying coming from IV.

Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition DLC Announcement

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Derek Neal, the producer on Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, has some juicy tidbits about DLC coming out for the game:

Hi guys,

We’ve been getting a lot of questions from fans about what DLC we’re going to be offering for SF3. Today, I’m happy to be able answer those questions!

First off, “Color Pack 1” will be launching next week, on September 6th/7th. The price for this is $2.99, and buying this one pack will add 7 new colors for each character! The colors are available in pretty much all modes, but can’t be seen by people who haven’t purchased the DLC. (Also, we weren’t able to save the color palettes in replay files, so please be aware of that.)

In addition to “Color Pack 1” (and future color packs), we’re proud to announce several other DLC offerings today, which should be showing up in the next month or so.

The first of those announcements is: a set of Music Packs(!), which add new songs. Specifically, they add…all the character themes from the first two Street Fighter IIIgames, “New Generation” and “Second Impact”! But wait, there’s more. In addition to the Unlock Keys, Color Packs, and Music Packs, we’re also going to be offering Match Packs.

As some of you may know, we held a semi-secret tournament at the CAPCOM offices earlier this year, and called it Fight For the Future, 2011. We invited 16 high level SF3 players from all around the world to participate, including 4 from Japan. With these Match Packs, we are now going to bring that tournament straight to you, in the comfort of your living room. Each pack comes stocked with over an hour worth of content, and every single match is accompanied by professional commentary, recorded by the one and only: James Chen! Finally, there will be two of these Match Packs. One will cover the entire Tournament Top 8, while the other is a “best bouts” pack stocked with all the hypest matches from the event. Look forward to it later this year!

Cheers,

Derek
