Maxtor: One cool customer. We broke bread, partied like rock stars and even almost got kicked out the hotel. Given all that, we still never fought one time which I’m kinda sad about. You showed great skill using so many characters at the tournament.

JamesMK: A fellow senior citizen like myself, I have to say I was a bit embarrassed by not knowing your background. You were extremely helpful to me and one of the best story tellers I’ve come across. It was indeed a pleasure.

M2Dave: Wow! That Freddy of yours! Extremely impressive, you did Ohio proud. I’ve told everyone you were the real deal. You have now proven it. BTW, we were joking you were gonna put a hit on someone if you lost. ofl: Keep it classy brother.

MasterD: The best unknown player in the country. You had a tough break and really could have made Top 8. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming Console Combat.

RookieOfTheYear: What else can I say about my partner in crime that I won’t say on later tonight during casuals.

Tom Brady: Dude, I can’t believe how funny you are. You had me cracking up half the weekend. I want to point out that as one of his heroes, Catch22’s son really wanted to play you. You were humble enough to sit down on the floor and honor his wishes. You made that young boy’s evening.

ATL_Redd: I was shocked to see you not make the top 8. You were bodying everyone during casuals pretty soundly. I do not understand what happened. You repped Atlanta with great dignity.

AU_Wanna_Die: Mad props to my rival clan member? You are like family, a solid dude in my book. Next time hook me up with one of those AU shirts. I’ll wear one just to troll myself. BTW, you have come along way in terms of skill from the last time we fought.

Phil 9.95: Thank you for hosting one of the smoothest tournaments I’ve ever been to. You were very kind and wise. Perhaps we’ll get to work more with each other in the future.

Arturo: Another first for me in meeting you. You and Brady are like Heckle & Jeckle on the streams. The MK Dynamic Duo of announcers.

Shock: Well we finally got that talk in and I have to say it was worth it. For those who don’t know I wrote some scathing shit about Shock peppered with ignorance many months ago. I got the opportunity to apologize for those comments. Shock was very gracious about it.

Dark Rob: First, you look nothing like I though you would, just sayin. We had some great conversations about the game and your knowledge is unsurpassed. I look forward to our next outing where we’ll finally get to sit down and bang out some matches.

Tim Static: You share in the kudos for running a tight ship at SB. You also get my envy after dragging in that MK cabinet. OMG I want a cabinet so bad!!! We get to bullshit from time to time. You always come off as a chill dude.

Alex22: What a pleasure to meet you and your son. That is the type of thing he will remember throughout his life. You are a fine example for future fathers. You asking me to sign that stick was a very big complement and I offer you my thanks.

AU_I’m_Digimon: You are friggin HUGE!!!!!! Seriously, very nice to meet you.

Hitoshura: I’ll get you that shirt so you can rock it on VSM. Pleasure meeting you.

EDIT: How could I forget Classy Sasquatch? The guy put me in losers. Man those tournament jitters really got the best of me. Taking nothing from your great KL. So between you and MasterD taking me out, I couldn't ask for better people to eliminate me. Ain't no shame in losing to better players.

GGs to Doctor Rouse, Maxter, Geochron, Alexdc-22, and THTB. It was fun playing this game with all of you. Also I feel like I owe an apology to Doctor Rouse for yelling FUCK real loud during our match. I was mad that I missed a punish on a Fan Lift. That's not an excuse. I was also really hungry. That's also not an excuse. My bad, dude.

Also GGs to everyone I played casuals with, which man I've got no hope of remembering all those people. I do want to say something to the Raiden player I was playing against (guessing it was PLAYING TO W1N but I'm not sure). Don't ever apologize for your character, bro. You weren't just winning off random teleports and supermans, you were outplaying me. You got legit skills at this game and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Finally, the opposite of shout outs to whoever stole blueNINE's stick. If I ever meet this motherfucker I will kill him myself. I am crazy as shit and I don't give a fuck about anything.

Oh also finally, thanks to everyone who helped to run the tournament. Everything ran real smooth and without all of you there's no Season's Beatings. Cheers!

haha I only picked sub because dizzy said it would be a better matchup against kano. Thing is, I absolutely do not know the matchup. I went to the character select screen to take a breather, thinking you beat me worse than you did, realized I had no idea how to use SZ against Kano and went to my back pocket char, which coincidentally I used more in the tourney than Sub. Storm you are the one whole delivers that message.

Classysaquatch - you are the true KL beast. I truly envy your style and grace with him. You are a helluva guy and will soon take top as well. You are the VSM future. Just don't where a pink shirt

REO - you can be sponsored by whoever, you will always be the lion of VSM. You are like a ninja slaying all who confront you with silence and grace. Humble and honorable you are the true face of MK scene. Future hall of fame.

Arturo - The Jackson Height Lights, the freakin puerto rican. You are the Don King of scene. The grape ganja of the green world. You my friend promote the MK scene like no other you push more hard than anyone I have met, to get this community notoriety. And as well play a mean a Reptile. You da man!! Keep up

Erik Warda- The kabal of kabal's. You are the Johnny Cage of VSM. Well Val Kilmer maybe. The sweet piece of meat fans want to eat . You play with style, grace, and patience like a true champion and you will always be up there with The other top players. Without you, listening to my big mouth I probably would have crashed or abducted by those aliens. You are top tier dude.

Dark Rob - is one of the top SZ out there. A plethora of MK knowledge. With the heart of lion and musical tastes of a jackal. You should have been included in the pillars of MK. You house, feed, and entertain all the players who travel to VSM. You are the backbone of VSM. Whizz on gameplay and controllers you deserve top spot. But you would not
take it unless you felt you earned it.

Next will be the folks I have come across, the new breed.

Hey guys it was seriously an awesome time chillin with all of you over the weekend! really awesome time!! I apologize for not giving shout outs to everyone but this event was a whole lotta fun!

It was really cool that all the GGA and VSM guys came out reppin hard! It was tight to finally meet people from the east. Im from Chicago and so far have only met a lot of the top players from the west.

VSM you guys did great!

First off I have to say congratulations to Manny(CD jr.) on an amazing win. Ive come to respect this dude so much over the past year, and not just for his super talented MK skills. Manny has intelligence,wisdom and maturity way beyond his years. One minute hes winning the whole tournament, the next minute hes huddled away on a station with Alex jr giving him some one on one MK9 training. Completely devoid of pretense, Manny is as real as they come. Im so proud of him.

Tim Static and Ghaleon for holding such a great event and for having us out there. Tim your such a great friend brother. Youve been bending over backward for the MK community for so long, your like the old soilder that keeps fighting no matter what. Youve been pushing this community foward for what seems like forever through good times and bad times. Tim is one of the main bricks in the foundation of this community.

Now for the travelling circus that was my group of companions.

REO. I love this guy. REO is like a little brother to me, and Im very protective of him. I brought REO into the tournament scene and Ive enjoyed watching him grow and prosper and become the dominant force he is. I live vicariously through him. When he wins I rejoice like its my own victory, when he loses I feel his loss with him. Il always stick by him and support him. He is my favorite MK player of all time. Many know him to be somewhat quiet and shy, but they dont know him like I do. He has one of the sharpest, wittiest and quickest sense's of humor of anyone I know. More than once he had all of us dying from laughing so hard on the drive out and in the hotel room.

Shock. Though im actually older than he is, in many ways Shock is like an older brother to me. I look up to him,admire him and respect him for everything he has done both for the scene and the community. His words carry enormous influence with me. I trust him and his judgement implicitly. Where Shock leads I will follow. I want to say thank you to Shock for helping me make it to Seasons Beatings. I had such a great time and I wouldnt have made it out if not for you. Much love brother.
Oh yea, Did I mention Shock won the UMK3 tournament? Well he did. And he seemed unstoppable. He had his game in full swing and went through such great names as Moe,REO, and No doubt Arion to take the top spot.

Hitosaurus! Thats right. Hitoshura is now a full blown Hitosaurus Rex. And what a hilarious creature it is. Hito's energy, enthusiasm, and sense of humor is so infectious, one cannot help but get swept up in it and carried along for the ride. Klassy Sasquatch. Man I dont think Ive ever had someone laugh so hard at my jokes as Klassy does lol. I never knew I was that funny haha. Spencer is like the easiest person anybody could ever be friends with. He rolls with the punches and is able to be at ease in any situation. Spencer comes off to me as someone who is truly comfortable in his own skin. He's also one of the best Kung Lao's you will ever play. Ive had wars with this guy. He might actually be my favorite opponent to play ever. Hes also super intelligent and disarmingly insightful when it comes to life,people, the world.

9.95. Phil is to me what I am to REO. Phil brought me into the tournament scene. He introduced me to Shock and Summoning. He gave me a home in that crew and made me a part of it. Everything Ive done, who I am in this community, all the people Ive met and all the friends Ive made, it all starts with Phil because he was the one who reached out to me and brought me in. Phil is neither an older or younger brother to me. He is THE brother to me.

Maxter. Maxter is the man, plain and simple. Ive had so many conversations outside of venue's with Maxter over the course of a cigarette break. Ive learned entire matchups from him just over the course of those conversations. I had a tight set with Maxter in pools. I fought hard, but he out maxtered me lol. Maxter matches are always hype as hell to watch to because he lives to land those big combos and when he does the crowd always goes apeshit for it.

Tom Brady. If people only knew Tom the way I do, I think they wouldnt be so quick to jump on him or give him as much shit as they do. Tom has to be the only player I know who consistently places Top 8 at like every major he goes to and somehow people still think he is a bad player. Hes been stuck in a no win situation for a long time. I learned Subzero from Tom Brady. In fact anyone who plays Subzero has taken or learned something from him, whether they want to admit it or not. He made that character.
Much love Tom. Here's to hoping that someday we get our Subzero back. The Subzero people feared.

M2Dave. For those who dont know M2Dave, he has a long history with the MK community and has always been known as the "Zoning master" At Seasons beatings he showed just how well deserved that title is. Displaying a masterful use of spacing,screen control,footsies and projectile use, Dave showed how Freddy should be played to his maximum potential.

Catch22 and Alexjr. Let me first say that I am usually uncomfortable around children. I just dont relate to them. Alex jr. is the exception. I have never seen such a well behaved and well mannered little boy, and one need only look to his father to see why. Catch 22 defines what it means to be a great father I think, not that I know anything about being a father. But if i were going to be I would try to follow Catch 22's example. The two of them are both incredible people and I look foward to seeing them again.

AU_Im Digimon. INPUT BUG!! haha. Man I loved this guy as soon as I met him. He always had a big smile on his grill. I talked with him alot and hes got alot of great idea's about how to unify and further develope the MK9 tournament scene on a national level.
Also, shoutouts to high level cartwheels in the parking lot lol.

THTB. Dontay is always one of the people I look foward to seeing most at tournaments. He is such an easy going guy and alot of fun to be around. Hes also a masterful MK9 player. He has masterful spacing and footsies in the neutral game. He can bait you just by walking. He also showed just how beast Baraka can be now. Baraka has always been thought of as pretty bad, but no longer. Watch for Tay's Baraka, watch for it.

Bluenine. Alex has been supporting MK since forever. I remember meeting him at like my earliest tounaments. He was one of the guys that kept the UMK3 scene going and was always there when a UMK3 tourney went down.
Also I just heard someone may have stole Bluenine's PDP stick after Seasons beatings. To whoever stole it, I beg you to do the right thing and return it. That was not an ordinary PDP stick. Bluenine put many hard hours into modding that stick to his custon specifications. Dont keep it man. You could not have stolen from a cooler person than Bluenine.
In fact I will make this offer: To whoever has Bluenine's stick, PM me. Tell me you have his stick and you want to return it. I will give you my address and you can send the stick to me and I will return it to Alex. No one need ever know your identity and I will take the knowledge of who you are to my grave. Do the right thing man and all will be forgotten.

MOE30W. Ive heard so much about you from Shock and Tim over the years I was glad I finally got to meet you. I played MOE in the UMK3 tournament and actually won the first match. Boy was that not the right move. I awakened a monster and he slaughtered me in the next 2 matches. Your a legend sir and you have my respect.

Dizzy and the GGA guys. Look out for them. They are coming and they are hungry. GGA put everyone on notice that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with much sooner than anyone thinks.

Macewind. It was great meeting you man. Mace knows,as I do that for this community to move foward we must become one. No matter what website you call home, the community itself must be one. Its come a long way but there is always more to be done. Il let Mace say the rest. It was great meeting you Mace, much respect.

Ilovecheese. My first match in the tournament. A Subzero mirror, on stream, with Tom Brady doing commentary. I was so nervous. lol. My god, imagine if I had lost?? haha. It was great to play you.

AU_Wanna Die. I didnt get to play you or talk to you that much but it was great meeting you nonetheless. You lead AU, and it was great to see AU come out in force and be so organized under your leadership. The AU shirts were a nice touch. VSM needs to do this as well.

Erik Warda. One of VSM's strongest players. Always someone to be feared in the top 8. A tremendous talent and a very cool dude.

Chris G. Another great showing. I think Chris plays like every fighting game there is and is good at all of them. A natural talent Chris could rightly be called a "jack of all trades, master of all."

That sucks, i was DIGIMON was rooming with me, and on sunday night, he got a text asking about the stick, he didnt know who it was, but now we know whats going on.
at first we thought we where being accused of taking it, since i had mine that i got from the GREAT TIMSTATIC of a trade there.

To the MK9 high level players I don't get much time to talk to, (CD Jr, Maxter, Erik Warda, THTB, m2dave, Chris G etc) you guys are amazing and are collectively carrying this game through its entire lifespan. Without you guys, I doubt many scene players would care much about it because you all help make it interesting. Congrats on your fantastic placement, you represent VSM well. I am very honest, so I will say that you guys make a game that to me, as truly fun as it may be, is still only in the potential stage look like a fierce, cutting edge fighter. Sorry to anyone at NRS that I may offend, but it's just not quite there yet but hey, I only played MkvDC for 10 minutes. This engine needs more TLC and attention to logic and it will be the top draw for majors it should be.

Arturo and Vic, thank you for giving us the vehicle to show people that this franchise has life. Thanks for everything you guys do to support us, as I know you have rigid time constraints that many players can't grasp and complain about. I'll see you guys in a few weeks.
