Rough 3-tier list

In Europe!
I'm bored so I'm typing my understanding of which characters are roughly top, mid and low tier:

TOP TIER:
Kabal
Kung Lao
Cyrax (even without the resets he would still be top I believe)
Kitana
Smoke (I'm only putting him here because some top players say he's top tier)
Johnny Cage
Jax
Shang Tsung (I think over time he will turn out in the top)
Scarlet
Sonya

MID TIER:
Kenshi (some say he's top but I'm still in doubt)
Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Raiden (only top tier online)
Reptile (again, top tier online)
Mileena
Ermac
Rain
Sektor
Cyber Sub-Zero
Freddy (could he be top tier?)
Stryker (barely makes it out of low tier in my opinion)
Lui Kang
Kano
Nightwolf
Baraka (EDIT: moved up from low tier)

LOW TIER:
Quan Chi (could be considered mid tier perhaps?)
Noob Saibot
Jade
Sindel
Sheeva


Overall I think Mortal Kombat is actually very balanced. There are just some frustrating match-ups due to shenanigans such as Kabals instant-air fireballs or Cage's pressure/frame traps and the fact that some character simply have a better set of specials moves/normals than others.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, the character in red are not comparable to Kabal. I would move Kabal up a tier, name it S+ tier or something.

Kano should definitely be low tier, no one except for absolute fanboys will argue with that.

I think Baraka teeters on best of low tier and worst of mid tier. I think he is JUST above bottom 5, but maybe he is the fifth worst. I personally dont think anyone in this game is bad though. Except for Jade, I really am never impressed with Jade lol.

imo scorp is bottom. and if shang is top mileena and kenshi should be there too. i also think CSZ would be bottom.

Top tier-Smoke, Kitana, Sektor, Cyrax, Kenshi, Freddy, Sonya, Jax, Cage, Kung Lao, Kabal, Raiden

Middle tier- Sub zero, Reptile, Ermac, Rain, Mileena, Sindel, Liu kang, Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi,

Low tier- Scorpion, Jade, CSZ, Stryker, Noob, Kano, Baraka, Sheeva


Skarlet does not deserve to be on a tier list yet.

Kenshi not in top tier is fail. And I can never tell when REO is trolling. Sub is also in there many people would argue.

He's too unsafe. No real whiff punisher or advancing normal. Poor footsies game (which is what MK9 is all about). Cannot escape pressure very easily. Doesn't necessarily mean he is bad, but if he has to be placed in one of the tiers it would have to be low tier.

Anyways this is my tier grouping:

S Tier: Kabal, Kenshi, Raiden, Sonya
A Tier: Kung Lao, Jax, Sektor, Johnny Cage, Cyrax, Kitana, Smoke, Freddy, Skarlet
B Tier: Mileena, Reptile, Ermac, Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Sub Zero
C Tier: Quan Chi, Cyber Sub Zero, Nightwolf, Rain, Baraka
C Tier: Kano, Stryker, Jade, Sindel, Sheeva, Scorpion, Noob

Cyber Sub-Zero (too many bad matchups few comeback options)
Stryker (most predictable char in the game few options)
Noob Saibot
Jade (still underated)
Kano
Nightwolf (once you know this matchup this char gets horribly exposed)
Sheeva (few options toooo big hitbox)

This one would look more acurated Sindel is not low tier and believeme after fighting Baraka in winner final and grand final hes not near being low tier people just dont know how to use him he got great frametraps whit lots of chip damage.

At this point in time I don't see what Sindel can do against most of the cast. She's no better than Jade IMO.
So what is the trick to beating nightwolf?
Iagree about Baraka I guess. I play him and win with him often due to some of his frame traps. Moved him to mid tier in my original post :)
But I have to say if you think Baraka is mid tier then Stryker should be too I believe.

NKZero the idea was to keep it simple with only three tiers.

Stryker's not bad, but I really don't think he's better than Liu Kang.

To beat NW just pick a low hit box char and exploit hes all high normals :) whit Kitana or Sonya or Mileena just d1 or d4 him that shuts down all of hes normals and hes green dash he will eventually start jumping and then hes really screwd
PD: fanboys dont reply u know this char suck.

How many low hitbox characters are there in this game?

F31 does not hit high and is his best string. Plus auto pilot pokes=eat lightning. I'm not denying it is a struggle but Nightwolf has ways around these problems. Also he's probably the best low tier character in the game so...

yes but thar F3 has such a poor range it wont beat throug mileenas long d4 nor sonyas nor kitanas d1 NW struggles alot on good players that know how to abuse him.
