Positive Poster!
While I appreciate the positive message of your post,I've taken a long break from TYM and I decided to look over my main character thread and lots of people asking for buffs. I went to my first local and went undefeated with reptile(deceptive) im aware im not playing against top players but reptile is an amazing character with under appreciated strengths. While ending a combo with EX Invs you hit the enemy with 2 1. Most of the time they will assume you've stopped hitting them and release block button and try to retaliate, they have no idea you've staggered your 2 1 in which you have total advantage and they eat a full 31% combo. That's just 1 example of how scary reptile can be! Please stop begging for buffs and utilize many strengths reptile has, just my 2 cents.
No, okay, starting over.
I appreciate the positive message of your post. You probably realise the overall mood of this forum and I assume you wanted to put down some good will in here. I appreciate that you like your main. More people should actually like their main instead of constantly wanting to change how the character works. In the end it's a game and it's about having fun and a lot of people forget this.
On the other hand, and please don't take this the wrong way, but.
TYM here is centered around competitive offline play. Casuals like myself are here to better understand the game and learn things that will make me play better. Online, because I have no offline scene to go to around here, or anywhere close and accessible enough to be worth the trip. I'm also here because I've made some rather pleasant virtual friends in this community. None of these "I'm so funny for laying into people on an online forum" jokers, they don't do anything for me.
I get that you're having fun with Reptile, and that's what matters.
But. And here comes the harsher part of what I want to say.
Fighting games have always had weaker and stronger characters. Being able to patch the game and deliver changes is a very new concept, less than a decade old as far as fighting games go. And they still don't do it all that well.
That said, Reptile is not perfect. Not even Rayden is perfect, or any of the top tiers. They have issues, flaws, moves they don't even need or moves which make no sense, and then there are characters whose similar tools are worse off for no good reason.
Reptile's projectiles vs Rayden's projectile.
Kitana's parry (i18) vs Sonya's parry (i6).
On goes the list. So Perfect is not the right word to use here in my opinion and while your context is fair and your overall stance is appreciated by those with half a fucking brain, your overall statement that Reptile is fine, does not sit well with the character's community. He feels like an uphill struggle a lot of the time because better characters on the roster have better tools right now.
Assessments to a character's quality are not a "I've enjoyed playing him so he's fine" sort of deal.
There is more to it.
