Regarding EVO, "Yes, we are using the new Injustice patch, but Zod is banned." ~ EvilMrWizard

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
Why would Scorpion be banned after the patch? Is the Scorpion fear that bad? He's very average after the patch, still good...just not broken. His normals are very bad, his teleport can no longer be abused, and his jump ins are fixed. The crying should be over.
The problem is that he's a total slot machine now and has no safe footsies, it was questionable enough that he needed meter for his only safe option in the first place, and now that's moot, he literally has to guess right on everything he does, doesn't sound very productive for competitive play , no need to learn a matchup if guessing is all there is to it.

Concerning the jump ins, they more than likely would've been stuffable anyway now that most D2s hand AA's to you on a silver platter. The patch was overkill and says a lot more about who really doesn't work for disciplining the thought process behind their fundamentals.

I know there'll probably be the resilient dictator trying to argue against all of this, I'm just telling you how it is. We can;t say the same for Zod at this point.

Scorpion won't be banned. Especially after most of the Scorpion mains at CEO didn't use him in the top 8 and the ones that used him before that got bodied. Plan accordingly.
It was just fortunate that the majority of top 8 had players that acknowledges back-to-block fighting games existed before 2008. Which also happens to be every EVO TEO ever.

Who gives a crap, Zod, isn't that good, or over powered IMO. Players have plenty of time to get a feel (however brief) for how he plays, and learn to fight him. I think banning ANY character in a fighting game turny is a crappy move.
ok but he still could have some potentially broken shit with him, ie the batgirl bolo loop shit. had batgirl been allowed at ufgt with that shit the entire tourney would have been a joke.

I think the default is that a new DLC character is banned *until* it is established there are no problems with the character. Thus the DLC characters were not allowed at EVO 2011 for MK9. None of them. Everyone probably could have dealt with that if it were case for Injustice. It is something that you take a risk with if you decide to main a new character: there's a chance they won't be allowed in tournaments for awhile. There's a chance your new character will be nerfed.

That's something where I have no sympathy for Scorpion mains in regards to the latest 1.05 nerfs. If you play a character that is weeks old, yeah, you are taking a chance there is going to be some nerfing.

I think the problem here was that TOs jumped the gun. The characters weren't out long enough, particularly Scorpion, before they announced the DLC characters were permitted. What was it a week? Maybe two? And all of a sudden a DLC character is given the "ok" to be in CEO/EVO? If the default was followed, Scorpion would not have permitted so quickly, and no one would be able to cry that they reasonably expected that he would be permitted. When complaints and issues arose, then it would have been quite easy to say, "we're not going to allow him until this is sorted out." Where I do have sympathy for Scorpion mains is that they were told that he was permitted. You can't unring a bell. It is unfortunate, because the TOs were probably just caught up in all the hype and excitement of the new characters, and Lobo certainly didn't raise any eyebrows. If they would've just waited a few more days, well, it didn't take long after Scorpion was cleared before people started having qualms about him.

My guess would be that the Scorpion lesson will resonate for years to come. Hypothetically, if MK10 were to come out in March/April 2014, followed by some DLC characters, I am betting those DLC characters are not going to be allowed in EVO 2014, unless there is a good long chance to assess them first.

I wanted to see Pig and/or M2Dave go ham with Zod. Ah well, it's probably for the best.

Although this is true, recently Jimmy Vonvitii found a broken thing with Zod that actually weakens him where his trait misses some characters entirely. NRS has plenty of time to patch this crap IMO!

pretty much any character with an evasive move can break the trait, i break it quite often with shazam. and while NRS may indeed have time to patch and fix this, patches cost money, and still take time to actually make the fix. and NRS has plenty on their plate with balancing and creating MMH and the rest of season 2 characters.

any newly released untested character should be banned. because while we found these bugs that weaken him, the potential for still hidden crazy bugs that make him unstoppable are still possibly existent. and even if their isnt any game breaking stuff the mere possibility is enough to make banning an undiscovered character that was released a mere 10 days prior to evo completely acceptable. as i said with the batgirl example, broken shit exists and if that shit is allowed the tourney will be a joke

No point. m2dave has decreed that Zod is average and will remain average for the entire lifespan of Injustice.
M2Dave dose NOT run NRS, that's Ed Boon's job, so if NRS decides to make Zod OP, then we are stuck with it.
