random advantage bug project

Wow Quan Chi and Kano 2,1,2 confirmed. Good shit guys. Can't get choke to work.
Yeah, choke's bug seems to show up very rarely. I was trying ex choke for a while to see if it had the same thing, but after seemingly a hundred tries I got nothing. It seems odd that normal choke would be bugged, but not ex choke.

I tried just about everything for Kano, I'm gonna move on to Scorpion. If 111 is bugged, I'm gonna punch myself in the gut.

I've now seen choke bug out twice in like a million tries. Weird.

Wondering how much advantage on B11 Quan gets, even at a mere 7 frames that's enough to land a d3 and start the runetrap; which is pretty dirty.

one of skarlet's specials gets random advantage, somberness posted in the frame data.

I can do a whole character if you want. got a human dummy too.

So far so good with Scorpion, I can rest easy knowing I don't need to fracture my own ribs over 111 or 113 lul.

It feels to me that this is somehow related to the input bug. What the hell is up with crouching in this game... smh
Its not a bug, its a feature! ;)

Seriously though, is this something high level players could actually take advantage of in a match if they notice it happen? If it wasn't for the dummy standing and ducking quickly, would it be possible to even tell it happened?

Sub-Zero seems pretty clean, I kinda figured that since he has a lot of players and I'm pretty sure it would've been reported beforehand.

I need to give my brain a break from this, I'm gonna go make a sandwich.

You can't notice it happened(besides overhearing your opponents swearing) but you can use it to your advantage, just gotta hope it happens.

Well, CDJr plays Jax quite commonly and everyone crouch blocks against him. +9 advantage. Yes, it's viable, but I only truly feel it's viable against characters you're actively crouch blocking against.

Cage...not so much unless he's got meter and you're crouch blocking the EX FBs.

Ok, so if you're testing manually, is it possible the letting go of block is happening during a different frame each time, thus skewing the results? In other words, the frame that block is let go of might have an effect on whether or not the frame advantage is there or not.

With the input bug, it happened on a specific frame. What we need is someone like webreg with the proper hardware to test this. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him in a month.

Another thing that might be worth checking is an unpatched system just to find out if one of the patches caused this or if it's always been. If it is input bug related, then it should also be in vanilla MK, as webreg has confirmed that unpatched systems still have the input bug.

As for me, I'll try this out with Kabal.

interesting, the standing up bug doesn't seem to ever happen.
It's not just when you make the opponent stand up. I was doing JIP B1 with the opponent set to jump and block. I'd pause and remove block immediately upon connecting, then hold up to see the difference between my jump time and the dummy's. The results were inconsistent. This is basically how I determined the approximate advantage of every string without frame data (I wasn't really shooting for numbers, just none/some/lots/so on).

Killphil

A prop on the stage of life.
Wow. This is becoming a bigger issue than I thought. What the hell is the point of remembering frame data if the game just wants to randomly decide to give one person or the other the advantage? I'll try shit out with Ermac...

Does that mean you were testing on a standing opponent? If so, and if you're right, that means there is a completely separate issue regarding strings and standing block. So far with the ones we know(Cage and Jax) Somberness has confirmed they only work on crouch block. IDK if you have already, but perhaps you should try collaborating with Somberness to see if he can replicate the random advantage with your strings on standing opponents.

Kabal is random +9 after b+1,2,1 on crouch block. xD, fuck yeah! No wonder I always sometimes out poke people after that string some how.
Yeah I just went through his whole moveset right now, too, and that was the only one I came up with.

LEGEND

YES!
most of the time these are dependent on you and your opponents stance sway

i can get Jax's F413 to get over 70% chance of advantage by timing the sway correctly. This is of course next to impossible to do in a real match though so it might as well be random. I'm sure most others are the same way

GodsLonelyman

This is retarded. So if I'm understanding this correctly what causes the random advantage bug is a combination of the input bug and crouch blocking? There are so many bugs to keep track of I don't even feel like playing this game anymore.

GOL Eklectic

Surrender, it's over.
im getting it 60% of the time with sektors 11,b+1 and very seldomly with b+1 that is all for him. Fuckin awesome!

Ok, just went through Smoke. Two of his normals give advantage:

1,1 and the 2nd hit only of F4(as in, the first hit has to whiff).

Don't forget to test specials. You never know...

Raiden:

22B4(last hit only, 22 must whiff)
B2F1(the last hit causes it, but the B2 can hit or whiff on this one)
