Raiden Matchup Discussion

Saw there wasn't a general MU Discussion thread for Raiden yet, so I decided to make one. Discuss numbers, reasonings, strategies, what have you, below.

So far possible problem mu's I've come across are robin, wowo, red hood and atro. Atro seems worse of the bunch ATM but robin isn't far behind, obviously early and could be doing things wrong but the space radien weakest in they strong so its rough going

Something that is def not a possible problem is fate, that is a definite problem. Worse than atro for sure imo (this coming from playing it as both fate and raiden)

There some other mu's I'm not too sure if even or 4-6 Like deadshot or cpt cold.
(@IrishMantis is having none of me saying vs cold isn't a winning mu for cold ATM though)

Harley feels pretty awful can't really trade projectiles, dogs spawn behind her so teleporting is tough, her b2 (low string) destroys him in footsies just rough all around

Honestly, are there any winning MUs for Raiden? I know it's early but just looking at his toolset, I'm not seeing anything.

Brainiac, maybe Bane off the top of my head. Brainiac has no access to the air in this matchup and divekick is an easier punish than with most characters, Raidens projectile game (which nobody is talking about, its pretty solid) dictates the pace.
With Bane air superman is just a move that makes catching up to Raiden difficult and cornering him near impossible so Bane is getting peppered with projectiles all match while trying to mind game to figure out when you're gonna Superman out, trait also breaks his armor so mid screen footsies he can be kept in check as well as on his wakeup with good spacing, its another match where Bane can only react to what you do and he cant afford to make too many mistakes or get frustrated with the keep away because your damage is almost on his level.

Good points. For Braniac, I feel like we are putting too much emphasis on the air game. Raiden's zoning clearly isn't an issue, and Braniac can just play footsies with his huge normals. As soon as Raiden is forced to block trait, he has to guess like everyone else.

For Bane, I'm not too sure. Maybe if Raiden always had the armor breaking normals from trait I could see it. But again, just patience from the Bane player will allow him to take advantage of d1 in footsies whenever Raiden doesnt have trait.

It is too soon to say he loses most matchups. I was pretty frustrated when I started learning raiden and I was losing a lot bc I had no idea how to play his neutral game effectively. Few days later I started to get the hang of it and all of the matchups felt way better.
As for Raiden vs Brainiac, people tend to underestimate how good brain is at laming other characters out once he has the life lead. I don't feel like raiden wins this one.

Hard to play patient with Bane when I have constant meter and can throw out slow fireballs into mixups all day. I mean ya just like everyone else if Bane hits d1 I have to deal with whatever mix up he does but he has a hard time even getting to that range in my experience also youre not helpless without trait sweep is solid and you can superman or backdash away to go back to your game and d1 of course leads to full combo you have your options.

With Brainiac perhaps I'm focusing too much on the air game but can you blame me it's such a significant part of the character, I don't have much else to say about him though as I've only played a few good ones (character is rare!) but the few that I have played with Raiden had to completely change the way they play the character and even then I always felt in control of the match, which I don't feel when I'm playing against Harley.

On Atroc, just use d3 and beat him how you normally would.
