This is why I hate characters like Superman/The Flash/MMH. They basically make anyone less powerful than themselves (everyone) obsolete. .
Then why is Superman's archenemy and greatest threat a non-powered human? Why is Flash beaten by a group of people that involve a guy with a freeze gun, a guy with a cane that shrouds you in darkness and a guy with a staff that controls weather? These guys fight people less powerful than themselves all the time and get their asses handed to them.
The reason characters like Batman and The Punisher are so popular, is because they are still ultimately very human, but are sticklers for prep time.
Then why is Wolverine, an indestructible, practically immortal killing machine that regenerates at an alarming rate one of, if not THE most popular Marvel heroes? Why is Spider-man, a guy who can sense danger, has incredible reactionary times and combat skills on top of being several times stronger and faster than a normal human in the same breath as Wolverine as the most popular Marvel hero? Why are people like Hawkeye, Black Widow, The Question and Green Arrow not more popular despite being "very human"? Characters are popular for a multitude of reasons but "being human" should not be one of the top factors when making a point about popularity when there's half a dozen examples of this not being true for every one that is.
