IT WAS ABOUT MAN VS. THE WILD. THAT DOESNT MEAN THEY COULD NOT HAVE USED MORE REALISTIC DANGERS.

#capsrage lol

Edit: Btw I said I liked the atmosphere and deeper meaning of the movie. I just had a problem with how they presented it aesthetically, as there are other dangers in the wilderness that would have made more sense.
No offense man but i dont think you understood this movie at all or knew what was really going on

How is it not living up to its hype of being a prequel to Alien?

The Hobbit has NOTHING to do with the lord of the rings, not even remotely HOWEVER a small snipet Bilbo gets the ring which serves as the catalyst for something greater later and people call this great writing.

Same thing happened in Prometheus but people call it bad writing

I took a lot from it which enriched the alien franchise seeing the engineer dna spliced with the human and WMDs dna making the alien race. Thats the alien's maker when in fact the humans were on a journey to find theirs they ended up helping make a new race

The invitation could have been for this purpose
Yes but the hobbit was written before the Lord of the Rings and is a book that is intended for children idk if the hobbit was always intended to set up the lord of the rings since LOTR was written way after.

I started and stopped reading. Im going to end up hating the movie if that is what it was really about lol.

Ill drop it now.

Edit: I agree with this comment

"Alright dude the only reason im even commenting on this is because I always hated that kid in english class that would find symbolism in a character going to the bathroom. The title does not refer to purgatory it is reference to the grey wolves. The species. I also dont get why this is so hard to comprehend. In a quick summary the movie was about taking man out of his element and watching him break down to his basic instict... similar to a pack of wolves. Liam neeson suggests they stick together like a pack. Then frank grillo (diaz) who did an awesome job by the way challenges Liam Neeson (otto-somethin or nother) and fights him coincidently right after the omega attacks diaz and liam neeson explains the fighting noises of the alpha male fighting for another for control of the pack. Listen I barely got through high school and excuse my poor spelling but dont look so deep into things... then more or less post these things on the internet giving student in college or highschool bad ideas to post on a reading the film paper."

yea true, necromancer is only mentioned one time in the book and is said that "thats a story for another time" kind of have to give you that one. But there is alot of extra stuff in the movie than in the book.

Huge fan of Alien, Aliens, and the "directors cut" of Alien 3. I enjoyed Prometheus for the most part, but my main issues were how non-sympathetic all the characters were. Just no connection to them at all. And the religiosity of the main character irritated me.

I think every movie has a different interpretation.

For instance some said Prometheus the aliens hated the humans because of something about Jesus.

I saw it as they created us, and then after realizing how selfish and horrible humans are, they had decided to get rid of us.

And with movies like the grey, some saw it as purgatory while others said it was about neeson's primal instinct eating himself alive.

There isnt really a right or wrong answer, just like in literature.

Awesome will do

Thanks for this

Also GUYS regardless it was really fun movie
You know something, now that I think about it and as well as you saying it, I want to take Prometheus off of my original point of it being a "bad action movie". It really was a pretty good movie. Very fun little sci fi flick, which I'm a big fan of anything that has a space atmosphere as the main hub around it.

Funny thing is, I think they should have kept quiet on anything Alien related. If people were to go and see the movie and realize many of the Alien references in it, I think it would've made more money just because it would have created a lot more buzz than it had already.

I went in expecting to be dissapointed after hearing all the bitching about it, I understand some bad writing especially in terms of well that wouldnt have happened really like that and stuff like that but man I Loved a lot of things about the movie.

I loved how it showed the birth of the alien race and who THEIR maker was when in fact this movie is about the Human race looking for who their maker is and their journey still continues in a very well setup sequel. I liked how it explained the purpose of the planet and really gave a neat history into the events of alien but ALSO was strong enough to stand on its eventual own trilogy.

Im pumped for the upcoming movies just want them to keep it the same or better quality. Plus Man the blueray copy looks retarded good.

If you havent seen it then by all means rent it, its extremely entertaining and i liked it a lot.
I enjoyed the movie for what it was but I think it fucked with the Aliens franchise. I think Prometheus could have been successful without having to ride off the back of the Aliens franchise and I also think Aliens is cooler not knowing where they come from.

The Deacon isn't a xenomorph, may look like a proto-xeno but it's not official and the creator's of Prometheus are leaning more towards it being it's own thing. We still aren't 100% positive where they come from yet, but all fingers point to they are a naturally occurring species that aren't even the top predator of their homeworld.

I'm fucking hyped for The Hobbit.

Unlike LotR, I actually read the book, and it was awesome.

Also: I still really wanna see this movie.

The original Alien movies rock. My favorites are Alien an Aliens. The director's cut of Alien 3 is the best cut. I don't think anything could have helped Alien Resurrection. :D

Little tid bit for ya.

Alien Rez was written by Joss Whedon (Not Directed), it was actually a prototype for Firefly/Sernity ! If you look at the characters from the "Pirate Ship" in the movie you can match them to their Firefly counterparts!

ALSO

Alien and the Firefly verse are "Technically" in the same universe

IE

Weyland-Yutani logo on the turret in the first episode of Firefly

Blue Suns group logo is building a better tomorrow, same as Weyland-Yutani!

I never thought about that correlation :). It still doesn't change my opinion of Resurrection despite Firefly being greatness. Now that Whedon has truly solidified his reputation with Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and the Avengers I'd love to see him return to the franchise.
