Trying to get community consensus on this point. Someone told me that REO mentioned on his stream that the Mk11 NDC is even better than the Mk9 version, but trying to understand why. Other than the bar usage, the biggest difference to me is that you seemingly cannot cancel the dash mid-dash or towards the end, but only right at the beginning, so it loses its Mk9 utility as a mobility tool. In Mk9 you could cancel it at the last second before hitting the opponent and then begin block pressure.

The bar usage point has been thoroughly discussed, but perhaps a bigger question is the slot usage. By selecting NDC, what are you sacrificing with that slot.

Also, if the cancel is not plus, perhaps it should not use a bar - this could then maybe justify the slot usage.

I may just be overly nostalgic here, but I'd love NDC to at least be a viable option without being broken or unfair.

Your hole is mine!
I feel like we'd have to know the exact frame data of the cancels from each string before we say if its good or not. I've been having great success with it using it for pressure after the restand but it's hard to say whether it's just gimmicks or not at this point. It's also good for safe/plus hitconfirms off F4 which really helps his counterpoking game.

The B12 cancel feels plus and 23 also feels slightly plus, I'm pretty sure 111 is negative though.

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
keep the 1 bar consume and the mandatory slot for it ...... anything to keep this mechanic in check and on leash, to avoid any stupid thing as occured in MK9 .... rsrsrsrs :D

Hard to say at the moment. I think it should cost meter for sure otherwise it’d be a mess to have free cancels and pressure. I wouldn’t mind if it were base and didnt cost a slot but I think it needs to cost meter for sure.

I feel it's not easy to deal with on reaction, but doesnt net a whole lot. I don't believe any of the strings are significantly plus (some are most certainly not plus) when canceled so its more of a guess. It seems best to reset to neutral or throw mixup. I really can't see why reo would think its on par with mk9 at all when mk9 dash is insane in neutral, doesn't have a cost and has consistently usable plus strings that atleast net you the poking advantage. I also think it's easier to confirm in mk9. Not saying it's bad but it's nowhere near mk9 unless i'm missing something.

ball roll enjoyer.
I was watching the set Gunshow uploaded between him and Dragon and he seemed to be getting decent mileage out of the cancels.

Yeah I think there is a strong argument for it being base and not costing a slot. If it already costs meter every time, you shouldn't have to sacrifice another move for it

All too easy...
Does the added visual and audio cues from the mb flash make them easier to deal with? I have not played a Kabal that has used them yet.

You know me as RisingShieldBro online.
I fought a really good Kabal last night who had the low grab with the dash cancel. He conditioned me so hard from finishing the strings that it became a mind game of if he was going to cancel the dash on block or not.

Seems very hard to react to and the reward is well worth it.

Kabal having the NDC baseline would be pretty harsh to other characters. It would be similar to having misery blades base which would be too powerful considering all the options it opens up.
The difference is that misery blade doesn’t cost meter to cancel. I do however prefer NDC to be the way it is than for it to be broken.

It costs defensive meter right? So if someone goes for a cancel into throw and I D2 KB them then they will not have the meter to break away after so while strong they really just open up a new set of mind games and counter play options for both sides

It seems pretty good. I've played a few Kabals who used it and it caught me quite a bit, though my reactions aren't world class. I think it's weird that Jacqui has strings she cancel meterlessly but not Kabal. Maybe since you can see the start up of the dash it makes it harder to react to the cancel, or maybe because it's plus in certain situations and she can't

Yes, I think it's better than the low hook, you can still dash cancel your oh strings and do a d4.

Depends really on your playstyle and how much you use meter for other things. If you're going for more of a rushdown game and applying pressure, it seems almost mandatory for higher-level play.
