This is why Cyrax can be patient with iagb's forever. His normals are also top tier.

I'd say Evo proved Cyrax to be the best (known) character to fight Kabal.

Ever wonder, as crazy as it could be, that Rain might also be viable against Kabal? He also has big damage combos, meter draining moves, save special move launcher, flash parry.

But he has shitty normals that Kabal trainwrecks. That's the lynchpin in the whole setup - Cyrax's normals can compete and punish Kabal safely (and sometimes even have advantage on block). Rain is close but IMO his greatest weakness is that he's simply too slow. Knock down the execution frames on his entire move list by 2-5 frames (depending on the move) and Rain would be a real contender in the top tiers.

Considering Rain's hitbox, I'm not sure (Cyrax's hitbox makes Kabal's standing 2 randomly whiff so it's probably not a good idea to attempt 2~NDC on him), but Rain having a flash parry of his own is potentially huge...

I guess the point is, Rain can also potentially do to Kabal what Cyrax can. I'd say the threat of EX RH means Kabal cant just wake up with whatever he wants without eating a full combo.

Just throwing some ideas out there! There was a great video on YT of Foxys Rain vs REO's Kabal, pre Evo 2012 which was really awesome. Think REO took it down though.

Yeah that's the thing, we haven't seen the matchup since then and I have no idea what Rain's corner pressure is like.

I have to disagree to Ninj's sentiment about Rain's normals though, it took a year of exposure just to relieve ourselves of the idea that Cyrax is all just nets and bombs, let alone what he's become now.

Again, it's just speculative for now. Man how I wish PND was still running and PSN wasn't region locked.

Kabal staying number one, he beats EVERY character. Is rax top 3 material? i'd say yes. I believe kenshi comes second then rax third. I do not think lao is better than rax at all.

I can beat Kabals with Stryker I feel its 6-4 for Kabal max maybe 5-5 if the Stryker is as abusive as I am.

I wouldn't know for sure, that's why I only commented on Scorpion. I wouldn't think they beat or go even but I wanted to clarify that kenshi vs scorp isn't bad at all.

curbo, sonya goes 6 4 with kabal man, if only we could play offline, i'd show you exactly what I mean. Also, cyrax is one of the best chars to use vs kabal hands down, but a few are better.

I have seen somebody play the same way Denzel played the Kabal match up way before EVO 2013. I saw this some time ago. That somebody was Tom Brady bodying Kabals with his Sub Zero. I guess people forget.

Oh heck no. I was there at NEC right by the big screen when him and (I believe it was) AC1984 tore the house down.

The precision...oh man, it was like watching Harry Houdini rock a straight jacket made out of Kabal.

If Cyrax to Evo 2013, it's because the player was better than the other player using kabal, the character tier doesn't truly effect the outcome, but it does help. Oh and expect to see a Sonya taking Evo 2014!

funny how everyone shit on PL after evo 2011 saying he doesnt support MK9. Now it seems perfect legend is one of the only few top players that supports MK9 when it is actually needed.

I know this will definitely show I'm a newbie, but Kabal is considered the best MK 9 character? I mean, he beats Shang Tsung, Raiden, and everybody if you know how to use him? It's my favourite MK character, but I am still having trouble learning the nomad dash cancel, so I suck at rushdown and a good opponent always defeats me, babality included sometimes. If I play Kenshi or other "easier" character, do I have chances against a good Kabal, or he'll just crush me?
