Lol, dafran does it, the very few times he plays soldier btw, because he's dafran. A top 3 hitscan player in the world, playing against ladder players.

Just because one of the best players in the world does it doesn't mean it's a thing. There's a reason no serious team has picked soldier in the last 1,5 year. Since you're claiming it's a thing, you show me proof then. Find me a pro match with soldier killing brig.

I feel like you play in a low elo and don't follow the competitive scene of this game at all.

You're talking about meta, which is a different conversation. Just like any other game, meta truly matters most at the absolute highest level (the one none of us are playing at).

Obviously if you're PC GM or playing in OWL, you won't be picking soldier right now and you'll probably play Hanzo or Widow. Show of hands for who is Top 500 PC here.

And even that isn't completely true, as there are people in T500 one-tricking Torb and doing various other things you wouldn't find in in-meta in a true competitive match. It's ranked.

Even if you play in-meta (say, Hanzo) you're still going to keep your distance from the Brig and take advantage of the moment that her shield is down and she's melee'ing. The principle remains the same.

Comparing that to battle Mercy is hyperbole to a pretty silly degree.

The point is that if you're constantly being shield-bashed and stunned at the beginning of the teamfight as a ranged DPS, you're doing something wrong. But no Hanzo at that rank would have that problem.

No one is arguing tiers. But what you're saying is like suggesting a Deathstroke can't beat a MMH in Top 32 of a regional. In a game where 6 characters fight each other at the same time rather than 1v1.

If that’s the case you wouldn’t have one-trick Torb’s in Top 500. Just like in any other game, if you’re not playing at the highest level, there’s probably something you could be doing better/smarter rather than strictly blaming the character/hero.

Still works in Diamond on PC since Soldier’s spread buff, which is around the top 10% of the playerbase. Obviously the higher you go, the less off-meta play you see.
